Tooth extraction
« on: July 24, 2017, 03:03:49 pm »
I had a tooth extraction about 4 days ago, and I have been eating soft foods for 5 days now, I don't know how soon to start eating solids foods, have anybody ever had an tooth extraction, and if so, how soon did you start eating solid foods?

It's been years since I had a tooth taken out, but what I do remember is eating after three days, depends where you had a tooth taken out, front, back, or side. Tried to avoid the side the tooth was taken out from.

I had mine also last Monday, they pulled my wisdom tooth. After 2 days I ate solid food already in the other side.  just eat slowly and carefully.

Ouch! It really hurts! Try meal replacement drinks, like Ensure or Boost.
Do not risk gum infections. Wait until your gum completely heals.

I'm a bad example but I was eating real food the next day. I also was sucking a milkshake through a straw the day I got it out which is definitely not recommended

I do the supplemental drinks and vitamins. Than no need for food.

You should have gotten post-surgery instructions from your oral surgeon or dentist, usually in writing. So if you don't have that, please call one of them to be sure you are doing what is right for your situation!

Last time I had one pulled was in 2009.  I was told to go easy on eating solid foods and not to use straws for 3 days until I knew I wasn't feeling pain or I wasn't bleeding from the extraction.

Beside what they tell you to do, listen to your body if it is sore or painful stick with liquid/soft foods longer.

I would check with my dentist on that one.  He/she knows if your extraction was simple or complicated.
