I just retired

I worked most of the time since I graduated in 1960.  I retired from my job I had in a factory in 2003.  Well I found I could not live on SS so I went to Walmart and got a people greeter.  I worked there for 13 years and when I broke my shoulder nearly 3 years ago and 10 months later I fell and broke my femur bone and had to have surgrey and had to have a rod put in my leg.  I was in the nursey home nearly 7 weeks taking threpy.  I stayed out of work for 11 weeks that time and when I went back to work I knew I I would not be working long.  I could not hardly make it through the day till I went home.  I had to hang in there 1 and 1/2 years till I got my car paid off and could get enough money saved back so I could afford to stay home.  The money is going to be tight but it is working out good.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.

It sounds like it will be a relief to not have to go to work everyday.  That part is good.  Being tight in regard to money is a double edged sword!  Depends on how tight!!  Also, I find retirement enjoyable in some ways but not so enjoyable in others.  If you still have family available and nearby, that can be helpful.  But if most of your family have died or are far away, that can be another tough issue, especially if you don't have a life partner that you get along with and can share life's ups and downs.

Congratulations.  No more alarm clock so you can drag yourself out of bed for work.  It sounds like you've arrived and now you can focus on taking care of yourself.

Even if it might seem like you fall into the "low income" bracket when you live on retirement pay - There are resources available so you can subsidize your income.  Good luck with all that.
