electronic cigarettes
« on: July 01, 2017, 06:34:11 am »
I saw an ad for these.
it didn't say what they were until you looked further in the ad.
it said there were three flavors.
I was wondering what they were talking about.
when I looked further into the ad, I found out that that the ad was for electronic cigarettes and the flavors were "vapor flavors"
I tried smoking once when I was young; never saw the sense in it.
these are suppose to be a "healthier" alternative.......ha.

Vaping - it's trending with little research on long term affects on the body.  No surgeon general warnings.  I'm not a smoker... but I know people who have used vaping to give up cigarettes.  For nicotine addicts the vapors can have nicotine in them... in a variety of doses.  So smokers can wean themselves off.  Some kids had the units in the break room.  One underage.  And one kid puffed it.  Blew out the vapor just like a cigarette and I couldn't believe the sweet air freshener affect it left.  Smelled like watermelon jolly ranchers.  So weird.  Both kids almost lost there jobs... no smoking in breakroom... apparently goes for vaping too.

I use them in hopes of eventually weaning completely off of cigarettes.   Cigarettes are not an easy habit to break.  I have been smoking for over 40 years and have attempted to quit more times than I can remember.  It is a horrible habit but very difficult to break.  I started long before there were any warnings and when it was fashionable to smoke.  There were commercials on tv, ads in magazines, billboards, everywhere.   No one was telling us how addictive it would be.   The use of electronic cigarettes has helped me reduce the number of cigarettes I smoke.

In my humble opinion the cigarette companies are overjoyed at the fact that vaping has gotten hold of smokers. It's another billion dollar industry that places little value on the health of the people using it. Some places where people can't smoke allow vaping and it's just as objectionable to me as cigarette smoke.  :bs:

I'm glad it's helped some of you to quit, but I think that's probably not true for the vast majority of people.

I see that it is trending now for young people. I do not know a lot about it but I think its side effects are the same as traditional smoking.

E-cigs/vaping are not that much better than actual cigarettes. They are filled with bad stuff too

I have tried the Mark 10 e-cigs with the disposable cartridges. They didn't do much for me though.

I have never had any desire to try electronic cigarettes.I used to smoke real cigarettes until I quit back in the early '90's.I got rid of one nicotine habit and don't need to start another one.

I quit smoking the normal way, just stopped. I did buy a electronic cigarette and it just seemed so stupid I couldn't use it. Even when I was alone the thing just seemed so out of place I never really could get into the sucking on a plastic thing so i tossed it away.

Never smoked a day in my life and personally, I don't think electronic cigarettes are any better than the real thing to reduce the addictions.
