take a lot of thought.
when parents' health is beginning to fail, the children need to step in.
there is always tension when major health issues are at stake.

The circle of life. The child becomes the parent. Taking care of an elderly relative is an honor not a burden.

We only have our Dad left, so we try and keep up to what is going on with him, he has dementia, he  doesn't at times know who we are.

What makes life such a sad place at times is when the children do not want to step in & make the parents feel as though they are a burden. That always broke my heart when I worked at Pine Lane facility for the elder.

There is always tension I think anyway.  There was a lot of tension when my mom had cancer because we loved her but my sister and brother were more concerned about what was going to happen with her belongings - it is so sad that the very people who you think will always be by your side are the very ones who fall by the wayside when it comes to the almighty $$.  I am envious of people who can hang together through the tough times.

It is a burden when you are the only person in your family taking care of them. Sometimes you can look for some help in the community and church to help you out so you don't get burned out. It is always good when you have those support around you. Don't forget to take a break and go out and enjoy a dinner or a movie for a few hours.
