A small protein and carb snack before bed - like some cheese and crackers - helps me fall asleep.

I seem to go thru cycles with my sleep;  I may go a few weeks and sleep fine and then all of a sudden I can't get to sleep or stay asleep.  I ask God to settle my mind so I can get to sleep and a lot of times that does help.  I also sing a silly song in my head sometimes.  My sister visualizes relaxing every bit of her body in sections; toes, then feet, then legs, etc.  Works for her.

I have trouble falling asleep too.  I get tired in the evening but then become super awake around midnight :/

Sometimes I get so sleepy and am ready for bed. ( I get up between 4:30 AND 6 a.m.) But when I go to bed I am wide awake. I know part of what the problem is. My body and brain do not always work together with  Grave/hyperthyroid. And  it works against me. But sometimes  I am able to fall asleep right away and 2 hours later am wide awake again and have to get up and move around a lot then go back to bed and fall asleep again right away. Sure gets tiring. Doctors say when I get regulated most will clear up.  Sure hope so.

so I sure  feel for you.

The best remedy I've found for getting back to sleep is rubbing a couple of drops of lavender oil into the soles of my feet.  This is working for me unbelievably well about 90% of the time!  There's also a breathing technique that I use that works really well, too.  You breathe in for four counts, then hold your breath for seven counts, then blow your breath out through your mouth for 8 counts.  You might have to repeat this a couple of times. Hope this helps.

I could rehash all the typical ways but they honestly don't help that much..

So sorry to here that, I sleep ok at night, but I do wake up about one or two times and i go right back to sleep.  Maybe you need to check with your doctor.

Try working at something creative or put some soft nature sounds music on.
