Reading or listening to books?
« on: May 27, 2017, 09:46:38 am »
Do you still buy a actual book and read it or do you read books online, via kindle or etc? I so far, only read books that I purchase. I am thinking about getting a magazine subscription online because they no longer have a manual print of the magazine to send me.

I use both online and actual book. I hate listening to books though because I read fast

I think there's pros and cons of both but just generally speaking I prefer reading books.

I read books either physical (paperback mainly) and ebooks. I could never get into audio books as my attention isn't as focused this way.

How about both?  I recently finished listening to all 7 of the Outlander series audio books that I checked out from my library.  They did not have a copy of the 8th audio book, so I checked out the actual physical book, which they DID have.  Then I found out that I could request a copy of the audio book and they might order it for me. I had never known that you could request a book, so I gave it a try and about a week later, I had the audio book in my hands.  So now I'm listening to the book and reading the hard copy at the same time.  It's fun, and I think I'm getting more out of it than just tackling one at a time!

I prefer to read books. It keeps me engaged while listening can make me fall asleep.

So far I'm reading actual books. I definitely see the appeal of a Kindle but I haven't jumped on board yet. A friend of mine, who has 3 kids, doesn't have a lot of time to read so she uses audio books.

I still buy and read actual books. I still have some hostile feelings when it comes to the new technology they've developed to "read." It's just not the same experience. I'll be buying proper books until they no longer produce them.  :highfive:

I buy books. Always. I love the feeling of holding an actual book in my hands and the smell of a new book. You can't get that from a kindle.
