Feeling guilty :(
« on: May 21, 2017, 03:10:05 am »
I had my Granddaughter for almost 2 weeks, her Mom came yesterday to pick her up and I was so happy. I love my Granddaughter more than she will ever know but she can be a handful and is only 4 years old. Were you ever so glad to see your Grand kids leave ?.....we had so much fun while she was here but I am feeling so guilty for being glad she went back home...does that make me an awful Nana :(

Younger kids can be a handful to keep up with and entertain.
2 weeks of that can take a toll if not used to it..
Don't feel guilty...You just need a moment for yourself to recharge mental/physical batteries...

That is a normal reaction I am sure. My mother feels the same way with my kids and all her grand kids I am sure. I am not a grandmother just yet, but I am sure I will feel the same way when they are a little older. When they are babies they are no bother. lol

I think that is a normal reaction and one of the good things about being a grand parent. You raised your kids already so you get to enjoy your grand children and send them back home. Parents are the ones who do not get to take a break.

No you are NOT a bad person.  I know you love her but that's why people have kids when they are in their 20's and 30's, as we age our tolerance and patience is less and less.

No , you are not a bad person, I truly understand that taking care of 4 year old is hard, its exhausting. You love your granddaughter. Accepting that you're having hard time in taking care of her does not mean you dont love her. You are a good Nana

well i haven't had that luxury of being a grandparent, yet. my daughter is 19 almost 20 in two months, still in college, but has a BF. They both know how i feel about them not making babies at this point if their lives, they're not ready.
