What does "friendship" mean to you?

Everyone has their own ideas of what it means to be a friend and how they define that word.

For me:

Friendship is when I have someone who wants me in their life.  They appreciate me and what I can offer them and they care about me.  It's also important that I reciprocate where I want to spend time with them, I appreciate and care about them, as well.

How do you define the word "friendship"?

When Iwas younger, i used to have a lot of friends, but it is just me and my sis. Friends, to me are who you can share your deepest secret with without having to worry that they will tell someone alse, you can confide in them and trust them that they gat ur back during bad times. I have been betrayed by a lot of these "so-called" dfriends so I dont really have one.

Trustworthy, loyal and as committed to helping me as I am in helping them. Someone who has no ulterior motive for wanting to be my friend. Someone that I can tell my deepest darkest secrets to without having to worry about hearing them from someone else. Someone that is fun to be with no matter what we are doing. A person that brings out the best in me, makes me laugh and helps me see the error of my ways. Someone that has similar dreams and goals. Somebody that is not afraid to speak their mind and/or say 'no'. Somebody that sees the positive in everything and rarely sees the negative. Somebody that does not feel a the need to belittle others in the hope of making themselves look better. I guess this describes my wife...lol

At 47 years old, loyalty is a plus. I recently had to cut a friendship off due to the fact she was very bossy, critical, and tried taken advantage of me. She didn't want for me to have any other friends. Now she has to face the consequences of seeing me daily as I drop my child off at the same school as her child. I sort of giggle at the fact she is uncomfortable seeing me. It could have been different.

Someone who really cares about you, who will be there for you always no matter when or what, someone you trust 100%, someone you can laugh, cry, vent with or too with no hesitation.  I am lucky, not counting family, I have two of these wonderful people.

To me friendship well ya got to have another person, a person that you can have trust in for any things, a person that wants to hear you, wants to see you, wants to have fun, and don't make you cry. They don't need to be exact loyalties because friendship is not lovers and we are human, but it is not friendship when you find out they laugh when something sad happened to you.

Friendship to me is all about trust, loyalty and confidentiality.  I have friends who I haven't seen for years... we have an opportunity to chat and it's like no time has passed.  We just pick up and move forward with our friendship.  Friendship takes maturity from both individuals.  Real friendship is a test of time.
