Climate change
« on: May 03, 2017, 03:43:20 pm »
How does climate change affect the way you view your purchasing needs? And what do you think of regulations that were lifted to protect the environment? I am curbing my appetite to purchase goods that cannot be recycle. And I feel that the environment is worth protecting for my generation and future generations.

I recycle almost everything because I believe that's the right thing to do. You know what I mean when you look at the landfills.

We're running out of room for all the waste.  :dontknow:

Climate change is another thing altogether. Not sure I believe all the hype even though things are changing.

I think it just screws up seasons. I'm trying to sit on vehicles less and walk more whenever possible.

I try and reuse as many things as possible and try to bring my own bags to grocery stores. I also wish I could get solar panels or subscribe to another alternative energy source.

How can the environment, including climate, not be affected by the pressure of ever increasing population and all the issues that this brings to the country and the planet?  The question is to what extent?  However, why would you not take it seriously when the planet may be at stake and future populations.

When I was a kid it was global cooling. As an adult it became global warming. Now it's climate change. I think it's all a way for the government to take more control over our lives and redistribution of our nation's wealth.

When I was a kid it was global cooling. As an adult it became global warming. Now it's climate change. I think it's all a way for the government to take more control over our lives and redistribution of our nation's wealth.

It's not OUR government trying to take control over our lives. It's the U.N. in the New World Order. Our Constitution does not allow other governments to tell us what to do.  A global government would only  be good for those poor countries.

Look at the Paris Agreement. It is a TREATY, not a law. It cannot be agreed upon by Executive Order like Obama signed. It MUST be voted on by the Senate an pass by 2/3rd of the Senate. This treaty did not come up for a vote so it's really null and void anyway.  This agreement doesn't help any country except the worse polluters (China, India, and Brazil). They don't have to do anything for 13 years and then they only need to come up with a "plan"  to stop their pollution. They don't need to implement that plan for another couple decades. Our country is supposed to pay $3 billion a year for 10 years into this agreement, the highest dollar amount of all the countries. That's taxpayer money going into it plus it means that even though we are #1 in the world for reducing our emissions, we need to cut another 25% by 2025, which means higher utility bills, higher gas taxes, higher vehicle costs, etc.  It's not fair to the American people.

Sorry. Sometimes I go off on a tangent especially when the news media goes ballistic on something they know nothing about and cause people  get hysterical.

To be honest, I rarely think about it. However, the controversy surrounding Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris agreement has me learning more about it (and climate change in general). The majority of what Trump says and believes is laughable at best (e.g., the claim that climate change is a hoax). But I digress.

I don't care because climate change is the least of my concerns versus the worldwide radiation Wi-Fi network and of course WW3. We'll destroy the planet's atmosphere through war, long before any significant temperature issues.

Absolutely agree with the author! I have been recycling for many years. I believe it's vital to our sustainability of the environment. It's not hard to do the little things like: reuse, use a keepsake water bottle instead of numerous plastic water bottles.

Here's an article from LIVE LIFE HEALTHY:

Plastic water bottle pollution is worse than you think.

Here are 15 ways plastic water bottles are destroying our environment.

How bad is bad when it comes to plastic water bottle pollution?

Pretty bad. Americans buy 29 billion water bottles a year. For every six bottles people buy, only one is recycled. That leads to a big problem given the fact that water bottles do not biodegrade, but rather photodegrade. This means that it takes at least up to 1,000 years for every single bottle to decompose, leaking pollutants into our soil and water along the way. Yuck!

As a result, U.S. landfills are overflowing with 2 million tons of discarded water bottles. And because plastics are produced with fossil fuels, not only does that make them an environmental hazard, but also an enormous waste of valuable resources.

It doesn't and people worry about things they can't control too much and can't even discuss it rationally 8)
