This Country can feed children overseas and hat is great. I love to know that, but not to be able to feed food to people in our own country is ridiculous. No one should ever have to be hungry. Thi subject just touches a nerve with me. :'(

surveypro2016 hit the nail on the head.  To eat healthy isn't economical.  There was a time when I would shop 90% of the time without going through the aisles.  Produce, meat, dairy and a few grain staples and I was good to go.  Now that I'm working so much.. suppose to be making more money to pay for groceries... and I don't have the time, energy or money to buy, prepare and then clean up.  It's sad I've diverted to the convenience of horrible meals out of cost and convenience.

Wow!  $3.49 for a head of lettuce?  It is $0.99 a head here in KY.  Fresh fruits and veggies are getting more expensive as well as meat prices.  High food costs used to be blamed on the high cost of fuel.  Fuel cost is down but grocery costs are still up.
Have a wonderful day!

The cost of some veggies and fruits have been skyrocketing. The price of one of my favorite, cauliflower is 4.99 .
And last year was oranges. I am tring to grow some vegetables this year.

I hate how healthy food is considerably expensive. Well no wonder everybody eats so bad here.

It's not going up, it has gone way up.  This is ridiculous how everything has gone up or in the process of going up.

At the store today a head of lettuce was 3.49 wow i bought a bag for 2.50 .I heard because of all the rain in Ca this year prices were going up they were right.Wanted miracle whip but not for 5.69 geez .Other items also have gone way up .

Wow.  Where do you live that a head of lettuce is $3.49?  Was it organic?  Or that Miracle Whip is $5.69?  Just curious.  Yes I agree food prices have went up but I am not seeing them that high.  Miracle Whip might be that much for the gigantic jar but you can get a smaller one for less.

Thankfully, I can grow fresh lettuce, spinach, veggies in my garden in the summer. I freeze a lot to use till the next garden.

To replace fresh lettuce when I do not have it growing, I keep a bunch of fresh sprouts growing, like broccoli, in my kitchen all year around. So healthy, and cost a few pennies worth of sprout seed for a whole big handful of health and goodness.

As far as other items, I keep checking for coupons (order online cheap, or print (but that is costly with ink), and match coupons with sales.

Have to be diligent, to live on my budget.

Clinton stopped the government subsidizing American farmers in the 90's so the food can go as high as it wants to

I currently live in Arkansas and we have those drought notices in the produce areas also.  Even before that I saw a rise in the cost of food, for example: when I first started purchasing avocados they were 69 cent each, now they're 1.25.

I need to install my printer and get back in the habit of couponing.  I did it before but wasn't able to gather enough coupons on things I already buy to keep me motivated to do it.

I usually get some coupons before going to stores and I also use those apps like flipp or ebates where you can know who has the lowest deals and can also get some cash back
