some jobs are hard to fill.
you need to have experience for some jobs.
it may be your field; what you studied in school.
still, you need experience to work there.
where are you suppose to get the experience if no one gives you a chance to prove yourself?
some corporations hire people from other facilities.
that's similar to hiring within.

There's also the other end of the spectrum...I had years of experience and was told by the jobs I applied for that I was TOO qualified.  Told them you cant be too qualified to be broke. Ugh

Yep, I've been on that side of job hunting a LOT. Companies do not want to pay what experiences costs, regardless of a person's willingness to accept a position and do whatever tasks a job requires.

I know how you feel.  The job market sucks.  My daughter with to college and graduate with a degree in Public History.  Right before she graduated the state put a freeze on job openings.

hard to find jobs now, have to be going on interviews constantly to find one that pays more than minimum wage just to survive.

All of this is really true and absolutely frustrating.

I'm job hunting myself right now and it's been extraordinarily frustrating. I am simultaneously both overqualified and underqualified for basically everything out there, which means I've been without a full-time job for about a year (at least I have a part-time to keep me coasting). I am underqualified because I have so little career experience... I'm only recently graduated from the university, so I don't have a lot of the background and years of experience in the field of work so many jobs are looking for. But I'm also overqualified because I have three BAs and an MA and so forth, which makes me a bit overqualified for any of the jobs that don't require that prior experience. It's a catch-22 and it's making me so increasingly frustrated... I would be more than happy to take just about anything, but no matter how many times I've applied, I've hardly even received an interview!

I m in the process of looking for a job too. The market is difficult because when you are qualified for the jobs they still do not hire you, so what are they really looking for? It is hard to tell.

I have been struggling with getting a job for like 2 years now. I am still a student but I have a lot of free time and do not want to waste the free time. I was looking for any job, even if it was at McDonalds or anywhere whatsoever, they are always asking for this experience or that experience, and i am like we all gotta start from somewhere. Nobody was born with experience. I am always ready to learn, Practice makes perfection but still nobody will hire me.

It's a hit or miss and something it's a lot to do with timing and networking. When finishing college, I was in a market that was very sour, so I took what I could and connected with people to hopefully be kept in the loop on other opportunities. I do worry if something happened with my current line of business if I have a fallback, but I do have to consider on leaving things to chance and a positive attitude.

The best way to get a job in your field is to do internships during the summers while you are in college. Sometimes one of those companies will hire you when you finish school, or if not, at least you have some experience and some contacts in your field.

I've getting emails of job openings in my area & one, I never asked for these & two the jobs' are usually not what I interested in or where I'm not qualified enough to take!
