Crazy Squirrel Antics
« on: April 12, 2017, 05:43:46 pm »
Recently I rescued a squirrel that managed to trap itself in the atrium of a building with an automatic door. I open it and he followed me out. A squirrel has also tried to offer me a nut and another chewed apart the stem's of my mom's spider plant just for fun. What funny things have you guys seen squirrels do?

I found a baby squirrel years back and had him as a pet for years, this little guy was pretty smart it was fun and the person I was dating at the time liked the squirrel so much he started raising sugar gliders for pets!!  I have a red squirrel out in my yard who thinks he's a giant..... he runs off any one in his yard! even cats!

When I was living in my first apartment away from home about 22 years ago, I was in a basement unit with most of my windows at ground level and various shrubbery just outside of them.  I had a computer desk in my bedroom just to the left of the window and I spent a lot of time there using AOL dial up.  There was a squirrel who often sat on the outside brick window ledge and (as far as I could tell) would look in my window spying on me.  I never fed him or anything, but he was there quite often!

I like to watch squirrels. I see them everyday from my window. They are all around my home and the area where I live. I like to watch them run up and down the trees. They seem  like smart animals.

Have bird feeders and a squirrel feeder in my back yard.  I can watch from my kitchen window.  Sometimes the squirrel will run and jump and climb up the bird feeder and lay in the big wooden tray of bird food.   I really thought something was dead in there one day.  it didn't move for a really long time LOL  Finally it moved and it was the squirrel.

We had a squirrel who would come on our porch deck and chew the wood. We have a couple round spots that aren't chewed all the way through but why it did that, I have no idea. There were also 3 baby squirrels that I used to watch playing last year, running up one tree, playing hide and seek, and running down and to the next tree, doing the same thing. Then they'd run into the garden and back again to the trees. All these squirrels lived across the street.

Now we have 2 feral cats, so we haven't seen the squirrels this year. At least our porch deck will  stay in one piece. :)

i have lots of squirrels in my backyard, they are some big jokers, i sit on the back porch and watch them jump from the storage shed into the trees, they move so fast, i saw one outrun a cat who was trying to get it, i guess maybe they were playing.

We are overrun with squirrels.🐿️  Haha!  They 'manage' the property here since we have so many pecan trees.  They regularly follow a trail from the house next door to ours by jumping on a Crepe Myrtle tree that bows over to give them access to the roof of our house.  You'll here their pitter-patter across the roof as they head to the top branches of the pecan trees nearby.  Oh, and they plant their stash of pecans in the front flower bed all the time.  We are constantly digging up these young pecan trees. 🐿️

I used to think they were cute. After years of them chewing apart my fenceposts, etc., I now view them as rats with long, fuzzy tails. Just vermin. Not cute. I would bomb them out of my neighborhood altogether if I could. They're totally overrun in our neighborhood. I see five or six or them in my yard every morning. And they make an awful screeching noise that I never noticed before. It's awful.

Sorry for the hostility for the little creatures most of you seem to adore for their cuddliness, but take me off the "adoration for squirrels" list at once.  :angry7:

So I had a not too good day at work today. Maybe that's contributing to my present nastiness.

Squirrels are awsome, totally awsome, at dodging cars on the road. It's like, squirrel running, slow down so he can manuver himself under your vehicle. Don't just keep driving and run straight into them, it's like, if you give them the heads up that you're not trying to hit them, they always- ALWAYS- manage to manuver themselves under your car. Never hit a squirrel ever in my life...well, maybe there was this one time, but I prayed about it. god rest his sould. It was only once. Every other time, they can dodge a car crazy good. If they're that smart, why did they think about crossing the street in the first place? One may wonder....
