Cat owners - PLEASE READ
« on: April 08, 2017, 04:42:46 pm »
I just found out something I never knew.  Lillys are extremely toxic to cats!  If they eat them or even if the pollen from them touches a cat, they will most likely die from kidney failure within 36 hours.  If you have any of these flowers, especially getting a Lilly for Easter, please throw it away if you have cats.  If you don't believe this, please goggle it.  If this saves only one cat it will be worth it.

Yes, even pollen.  The pollen sticks to the fur and the cat gromes himself, that's what causes the death. 😥

Yes, I have heard this before.  Lilies are very dangerous and this warning must be taken seriously.  We don't have any live plants in the house at all.  I'm not taking any chances.

Oh, you'll be surprised by how many plants are toxic to cats.  For a list, check this one out:

http://cfa.org/Owners/CatCare/HouseholdHazards/ToxicPlants.aspx

For a list of FOODS that you should never give your cat, here's a pretty good one (which also led me to the list above):

I am not a cat owner but there are plenty of people that are. Anyway, good to know since there are many plants that are toxic to cats so I will spray those plants with natural deterrent so the cats in my neighborhood would avoid them.

We have four felines and no house plants. Had a fern once and they used it as a landing pad when they'd jump. Or maybe they just liked jumping right into it. Either way no plants in the house. Good to let people know about this. Both for indoor and outdoor cat owners.
