"Locker Room Talk" in the Workplace
« on: April 03, 2017, 06:35:36 pm »
This afternoon I spent some time at the hospital in the Radiology Department.  While I was sitting in the waiting room I overheard a couple of Radiology employees (men) say....

"You should have seen this last girl.  She had a great *bleep*".

The conversation didn't seem very professional and I wondered if those conversations take place very often at work.

Do you think "locker room talk" in the workplace is more acceptable because the Donald get's away with things like that as President?

How would you have handled that situation if you were me (a patient) who overheard that crap?

Have a great day!

I would just ignored it. Men will be men. I believe they were unprofessional. Thank God I work in a school and I haven't seen nothing like that all.

Ugh, that's horrible.  So unprofessional :(

I'd not be comfortable being a patient under their care at all.  I hope their boss heard them and gave them a stern lecture on proper behavior!

That is so unprofessional. If that was ever done in my workplace, you'd be getting a talking with HR

That's awful and so unprofessional :( If I were a patient and I overheard them talking like that I wouldn't be comfortable around those employees if I ended up under their care. I would've also reported it the first chance I got to another hospital employee.

I CAN be everywhere and I have done it..(sorry ladies) In my opinion to do in a hospital setting is worse because individuals come in for care. Especially "radiology" where the workers basically see all of u, depending on tests..

I was a nurse for 25 years and sadly, this type of behavior has been around LONG before Trump ever became President. And, women are just as guilty as men. I think some people may think they are in a "private" conversation not realizing they are being overheard. I would have said something to them. Maybe not in a nasty way but to just let them know I heard them. Maybe they will be more mindful of where they discuss things in the future.

I would have reported them to the hospital administrator and everyone else I could to see that something was done.  Think about if this were you, your daughter, your mother, or someone close to YOU.  And if they talk about others they will talk about you.

Are you a man?  That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my life.  They are in the medical field and have no right to be talking smack about a female patient.  And the last part of your statement is just as stupid.  You think this doesn't go on in schools?  Have you not seen the news about the teacher and teen girl who ran off together?  It happens every where.  No matter what field you are working in.

A stern lecture?  They need to be fired!  And no the boss did not hear them.

Reporting to "another hospital employee" will not do any good.  You need to report it to the hospital admin.  Report it to the agency over them.  Plaster it on social media.  Make some noise and you get something done.  Jerks like this are also the ones who take pictures of you naked or videos.  Or rape women even if they are unconscious.  I know a GP in my area that I would not let do any type of female exam on me because he acts like a perv.  And I have heard him say things that make me uncomfortable.  People standing around doing nothing is why bad things happen and why idiots like this have jobs they should not have.  As for destroying their reps.  If they said what you say they did then who cares.  They need to be exposed.  People need to know who they are.  I would not let them, either of them, the one talking, or the one listening, touch me or see me in any way.

Be mindful of where they discuss it?  So it is okay for male medical professionals to discuss females they have seen naked or what ever as long as they do it in a private break room where the general public doesn't hear?  They can talk about how nasty they are because of a disease they may have that effects the way they look, or talk about how they want to ijgahaiha with her because she is so hot?  And it is okay because they do it out of ear shot of patients?  That is just wrong.  It is no wonder so many people won't go to a doctor.
