Do you recycle?

Do you find it hard to recycle? I know that some towns have mandatory recycling. It is a good idea but a lot of the products are still package in new plastics that do not break down. I read that it takes 500 - 1,000 years. There must be a better way. Plastic products are usually cheaper and all type of products are packaged in plastic. And as much I like the durability of these products, I feel I am passively contributing to the environmentally unsound practices. What are your thoughts? I reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible. I make compost from my food scraps. I'm very conscious of what I use and try very hard not to waste anything. I turn off lights in my house when I'm not in the room; etc., etc., etc. 

It can be difficult at times, but to try is better than not to try.

I heard an interesting perspective on this one recently. They say that recycling is not the answer to environment problems because the problem has already been created since recycled products get tossed out anyway if there is not a high demand for them. Plus the whole process is more wasteful than most people know.

I still try and recycle, but I pair that with doing things such as turning the lights and other electronics off when I am not using them or making my driving trips as efficient as possible to use the littlest amount of fuel needed.

yes we recycled because we have a lot of cans that we go though plus have lot of plastics and news papers

I recycle cans, as here in Michigan we have to pay 10c extra for each can so when we turn them back in we get that back, bottles too

No.  I use to but the guys who picked it up every week - sometimes they showed up and sometimes they did not.  Then I had to call and get the city to send them back to come up our street.  Got to be too much of a hassle so I just said forget it.

No, it's not hard. I separate the plastic bottles, aluminum cans, glass and paper and take it to the recyclng center.

Yes, our development has recycle bins and the homeowners association encourages us to use them, it's also good for the environment.

We always recycle, my town picks up recycle bins once a week.  I do try to save the soda cans to take to the recycle machines so I can get some money back, but sometimes I get lazy and just toss them in the recycle bin ^^

We recycle but keep the cans and take them in once ever quarter for cash.  It is not a lot of money but it more than we had if we didn't recycle

Yes, Just to get the extra $$ from the cans and bottles I Use over the month started to recycle my magazines since I get a lot.

Yes, we have a recycle bin and they pick it up every other week.

I don't find it difficult to recycle. We just do it as a matter of course and is just part of our lifestyle now. We have bags strategically placed throughout the house so everyone can just drop their plastics into the bags which I then gather up twice a week and dump in a recycling bin for pickup by the garbage man.
