Vegetable gardeners, what will you plant?
« on: February 27, 2017, 09:30:57 am »
I like to grow squash every spring because it's so easy, and I'm digging some new garden beds to make more room for a pumpkin patch this summer. I'm also going to try to grow a few stalks of corn just because I like how they look dried and tied in bundles at harvest time. Finally I wasn't planning on garlic but some scraps volunteered in my compost heap so I moved them to a bucket.

What veggies will you be planting this spring/summer?

I usually plant tomatoes, and last year was a good year for them.  This year they were kind of tiny and didn't do well.  The squash grows with very little effort.  I may try cucumbers this year.

I like just about everything: tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, corn, peppers, zucchini most of all. I don't like string beans very much, but we always grow a lot of them them since they have a great yield.

We always used to plant tomatoes, onions, radishes, corn, broccoli, brussell sprouts, peppers, yellow wax beans, green beans, potatoes, cukes, cauliflower, and eggplant (wow! We got 1 the first year, nothing after that). One year we even planted kohlrabi. Then we went to container gardening for 4 kinds of tomatoes, 3 kinds of peppers, yellow wax beans, cukes, and potatoes.

Last year, hubby only planted a couple tomato and cukes, but the grape tomatoes that fell on the ground, grew and we had a jungle of grape tomatoes.  :)  I miss the peppers and wax beans. I even bought a pressure canner a couple years ago to do the low acid veggies and haven't used it once. :(

I miss the large garden but I can't do it anymore.

I usually plant a variety of small tomatoes in containers - not really get much though. We recently had a couple of trees taken down so that opens up some sunny yard space I can use so I may try growing them there this year.

I did a garden when i first moved to this place I'm at, nothing big just about the size of a queen size bed. Had a garden center come out remove the sod and haul in new dirt, i went and got all the stuff needed and bedding plants.... And it was the biggest bust ever, :( :(  nothing grew, or I should say grew but really got strange.  Radishes went to seed with nothing in the ground but a string root. My giant pumpkin I babied from a seed got a huge vine and a sick looking pumpkin smaller than a basket ball !   :( :(  Cherry tomato plants with 7 marble sized tomatoes.. Never ever try growing a garden near Black walnut trees!!   Lesson well learned!

Mine will depend on what my cousin allows since I will have to drive to his place. I live in an apartment, but he's got a house and will let me use some of his land to work a garden. I really want some squash and jalapenos.

My fruit trees arrived I got 4 of them, I only was able to grow squish, pumpkins, and sunflowers too. My tomatoes needed to be in a planter, or they are sour.

I always wanted a vegetable garden but I live in an apartment. I plan to buy two big pots that I can grow tomatoes in and I want to grow peppers in the other one. I hope my plan works out this year.

Tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers.  For the paste few years I have been trying bell peppers but I think the growing season here is too short here for them, then only bell peppers that grew were small and green.
