money lessons
« on: February 17, 2017, 07:12:15 am »
I remember a mother of three who saw her children's talent.
She brought them to a Christmas in July  bazaar.
They sold string bracelets and made some money.
A lesson about money is more than paper.

I have 3 kids from ages 16, 10 and 7 .... I don't make them do chores, but i do have a list up with things like

1.00 take trash out
2.00 wash dishes
1.50 clean cat littler

and so on the older they get the cleaner my house is ... lol

and i think it teaches them if you work you get paid if you don't work you don't get paid.

I never paid my boys to do chores, that was just a way of growing up. But as they got older i would pay them some to vacuum out my car and wash it. Or do grandmas. They had a lot of unpaid chores on a farm. But then they also received a cow and calf pair every year,  they built up their herds quite well and their savings when they sold some of the calf's every couple of years. So i guess you could say they got paid but not for doing every day chores

I so totally agree. I was self employed for the first twelve years of my children's lives and was able to spend every single waking moment with them which was a true blessing. I used to show them different ways to make money. I showed them how to open accounts, buy stocks and took them on field trips to Ferrari/Lamborghini dealerships, the Denver mint and financially oriented exhibits at the museum. I taught them to make money off of every purchase and to stay away from risky investment and purchase of garbage. We would compare the money being made by a teenager cutting lawns for cash versus the money being made by someone working for minimum wage and the percentage that would go to taxes. I miss those days but the kids have grown up with excellent financial values.

I feel that we all need to have a healthy knowledge of money and spending and saving.  My granddaughters are now in classes to help them understand a bit more about money.

For real, you can make all the money in the world; if you don't know how to use it wisely you can lose it.

Hello! :) :D

Growing up I just did chores my mother never paid us to do our chores. I remember every saturday my big sister would make a list of the different things we must do each week. There were five of us we all did plenty of work. I think it would of been good if my mother gave us a little money to say thank you for the work. Furthermore it would've teach us the value of money. Nonetheless she never paid us and eventually we stopped cleaning for her. When I have my own kids I'm going to pay them to do the chores around the house but that's just me. :angel11:

I rewarded with money than it turned around and I asked what are you going to do with your reward. They really did good jobs, I just told them the truth about investing and saving and what they actually need to buy between comfort or need. The truth is the best information.
