Do You Think Animal Abuse Should Have More Severe Penalties?
« on: February 03, 2017, 05:57:57 am »
In my opinion, I believe that animal cruelty should have more severe penalties that it seems to have at the present time.  Research suggests that people who treat animals in such a manner are much more likely to be violent and abusive with people in the future.  Frankly, when I see how some people treat animals, I would like to see a minimum of a year in prison, a large fine, therapy, and many hours of community service/supervised probation.  I think they need to never be allowed to own another animal of any type, and if they are caught doing so, another penalty should be attached.

I am not sure what penalty should be Janice, but i do think it should be addressed that the guilty party would think twice again before he hurts an animal.

There are all kinds of people on Facebook in chicken fighting rings showing off the fights, and bragging about it. No body does any thing about it. Its against the law but no one cares. Some jerk cop was filmed in Minnesota beating his dog in the parking lot at the Black Bear Casino. That dog is a police officer in my books and cost tax payers about 50 thousand dollars. If some one on the street beat up a cop they would go to prison and for the rest of their life be registered as a cop beater. But this guy gets his job back and the dog as well.   >:( >:(   Dog abuse, well any animal abuse should have stronger penalties . But I'll never see it in this life time.  It makes me sick to see animals hurt by nasty people!! I love my dog so much and would go without before she does,

Oh, my goodness, I don't watch too many videos on Facebook or YouTube but I can't believe it is in public view and PETA, the Humane Society, or the ASPCA hasn't seen it and made a formal protest.

i believe there should be harder penalties for animal abuse --how people can do the things they do to animals is beyond me --if they can do it to animals they can to it to humans

I thought there were some pretty harsh penalties for animal abuse. Am I wrong?  :confused1:

I believe animal abuse is a felony in all 50 states.

About the chicken fighting I spent 4 hours on the phone and got no where but put on hold and sent to the next guy, I even call the FBI ... I was so angry I made myself sick, and yes it is a felony and they  were gambling to boot .. NOTHING was done  and no one called me back i have 200 screen shots with no were to send them.  So I gave up!   :( :( :(

Yes, there should be more penalties for animal abuse. However, it does have a social context attach to what is acceptable.  Farm animals are treated very badly in a very large scale way and society condones it. And I could be considered a hypocrite since I buy meat and eat meat. And I can justify it by saying that I am eating to sustain myself while the other form of animal abuses are for entertainment. But to the animals, it is the same. Abuse is abuse.

Have a great day. And animals do deserve better.

Anytime an innocent is harmed, the penalties should be severe.
When someone or something can't protect themselves, it takes an unusually cruel human to do harm. I have no problem punishing people without morals in the first place.

To be honest, I don't really know how to respond to the question because I think there should be penalties for animal abuse but I have to admit that I am not vegetarian or vegan. I think it would be hypocritical of me to say that people should be punished for abusing or killing animals while I consume animal meat every day...  :confused1: :'(

What should we do about illegal animals, seriously think about it, they do exist.  You expect an a lot from people that have many people crimes to worry about.  Both are bad it just depends on the situation to be determined by a judge or existing laws. 8)

If I made the laws, I'd like to have whatever the person did to the animal, done back to them.
