showing up
« on: December 07, 2016, 06:26:29 am »
there are times when someone tells you they'll be there to meet you.
you go to the place you both agreed.
you wait and wait.
they never show up.
we do get tangled up in life's surprise events and sometimes can't tell anyone.

Yes, life happens.  Thank goodness for cell phones.  Having texting available to me has opened communication up for me in those situations more often than not.  I requested off work to go to a friends anniversary party.  Since I had the morning available I offered to help another friend.  I had a small window between both events to stop by for a bit of the part before having to get my son to work.  With my 9 year old in tow - and a live reindeer we weren't expecting to see . . .  I just couldn't get to the party in time.  Sigh.

I'm with sak4kat.  Thank goodness for cell phones.  I have a pet peeve about people neglecting to communicate and "standing me up".

If I'm unable to follow through with a commitment I'll definitely find a way to let someone know.  That's an important part of respecting each other.

Have a great day!

Me neither...I do not like waiting for people especially when they do not show up or call.

I don't any more, i just tell them if you are not here in 15 minutes i am leaving. I have sister who is bad about making you wait and never thinks twice about it. Or calling you up and letting you know she will be in an hour and thens he  forgets or is busy doing her own thing and just doesn't show at all.  I have set at my house waiting for her many of times. One time she had my pickup and took off with someone else  and they went to another town and spent the night. It was not unit almost 11 p.m. that i knew where  it was and by then all the buses  had run  So i couldn't go get it.  and of course i had to take a bus to work the next day. Ticks me off.

My dad makes everyone wait on him anytime we go somewhere, it's always embarrassing to me to show up late.  My brother makes my sister & I wait on him whenever we have plans with him.  My sister makes me wait on her forever when we have plans.  I've come to expect it, but it STILL drives me crazy.  They all HAVE cell phones, they'll call with some excuse & say "we're almost there" or "on my way"...........and still, an hour or two later..... (we only live 20 minutes from each other".)  UGHhhh.

Yes, that happens sometimes.  Things can happen beyond our control.  As long as they called to let you know they are running late or won't be able to make it, it is okay (most of the time).
Have a wonderful day!

Life happens, but the 1st chance you get you should call or text and let the person who is waiting for you know that you will be late or that you can't meet them.

Well, sometimes the person you are supposed to meet has a very good reason why they didn't.  I think it's just something that we have all experienced at one time or another and it's also something that we should ask that person before we jump to conclusions.

I hate when this happens. It doesn't take a person that long to notify you that they cannot make it. However, life does happen and I try to be understanding.
