Bank of America does not have a Brick and Mortar presence in Colorado where I live. One of my money making habits is Bank Bonus exploitation. Banks offer bonuses for opening accounts with them. Sometimes direct deposit of your paycheck is required. Often times the account is required to be open for a three month to six month period.  I have three jobs so I am able to take advantage of at least three bank bonus offers. I open three accounts every seven months (do not want to take chances on having to pay a penalty), hook up direct deposit to each, close them after seven months and repeat. Bank of America currently offers a bonus for opening a checking account with direct deposit and does not charge a monthly/annual fee if you change to paperless statements. This account does not have a minimum balance requirement either.

I'm not fond of this bank but I do have an account with them. They bought my previous bank I was with and I was transferred (swallowed) into the fold. Luckily I was grandfathered into the system so I don't have to pay  monthly fee. This is the only reason why I still keep this account open.

I don't have Bank of America, but I usually have them in the past.  Didn't know they charge you that much.

I'm learning a lot about Bank of America here! They are right down the street from me, so I've thought about using them, but haven't opened any accounts anywhere yet. My partner uses Wells Fargo and so far hasn't had any big complaints. They are also within a few minutes' walk from me, but to hear they backed the Dakota Pipeline.... that might be a dealbreaker.  :confused1:

Plenty of banks out there that offer accounts with no minimum balance required and no fees.

I no longer bank with Bank of America.  I have a bad experience with them.

I used to have bank of america credit card but never had a checking account with that bank.My bank charges a fee if my account goes below $250 but I have never had $10,000 in my life but my parent's have had lots more than that for a long time.I think a bank should never charge a fee for going below $10,000 because that hurts low income people.I have social security disability and food stamps.
