Tablet?
« on: October 25, 2016, 10:04:46 pm »
I am looking to replace my dad's Trio tablet, that was a replacement for the one we had gotten him last year. I thought I would ask here. I would like to get him either a tablet or laptop that has a good battery, a decent size screen and is easy to use. He liked his old one OK for reading online or looking stuff up, but his fingers are a bit big for the one I got him.
So I am asking about what other people have.

Which device do you have?
What are some things you like about your device?
What are some things you don't like about it?
About how much did you pay for it?
What is the battery life like?
For those that have a Kindle or NOOK, can it go online to read websites, or are they just for books?
What about iPads?

I bought my fiance an Acer laptop last Christmas, and he loves it. It has I believe a 14-inch screen, good graphics, bright screen colors, lots of memory, and Windows 10 operating system. The battery life on it is good as well. I got it for around $250 from Best Buy, and it came with 6 months free of Antivirus protection as well. I like it so much, I was even contemplating getting my own! It's also thing and pretty lightweight, which might be good for your Dad.

Thanks Froggylover227!! My dad and I had a discussion about this. I am planning on looking around here soon to see what is out there. I may have to do a Cyber Monday deal since I won't be out Black Friday.  :moneymouth: I am still looking around for other stuff too!

I bought my wife the Kindle Fire from Amazon for around $65 on sale and she loves it. I did get the extra memory so it's very fast and I let them advertise to me on the opening screen, so it saved $15 off the normal price. She mostly plays games or surfs the Internet, so it has been very good and battery lasts all day. They do have their own Play Store (so I think it's much safer to download stuff), but there is not as much there as Google has. That's OK with us and still leaves plenty to choose from. For the price I don't think it can be beat.

I got a textbook for Christmas, I think it was around 80 bucks. It's simple for me to use. Mostly check email, play some app word games. Watch some YouTube and daily motion. And do my other money making sites.    NextBook or textbook, lol.

I have an old 3rd generation iPad and I like it very much even though I don't use it nearly as much as my Iphone. I love to FaceTime with my granddaughter using it because of its nice big screen. I also have a regular Wi-Fi Kindle that connects to the internet but I think only to find books to buy. A Kindle Fire would definitely connect to the internet in the usual way but it is a lot more expensive than the one I have.

I got my Kindle Fire with extra memory for $69 and thought it was a bargain.
