Thoughts about his decision to not stand for national anthem?

I don't like it, but he has the right to stand or not.

I thought that Kaepernick was a fine athlete about two years ago but found that he began to rely on his running game more then passing performance. Since this began happening Kaepernick fell into somewhat of a "b" list of athletes attached to a heavy contract that no one wanted to absorb. His decline deepened until he was about to be let go/traded which, suspiciously, coincides with his new found social consciousness. I certainly agree that he has the right to stand or not but there is a time and a place for making political statements and I do not believe nationally televised football games are either. Where was he when Ferguson broke lose? He is said to have given one million dollars to better the cause which represents less than one percent of his income. Sadly he is one of two reasons that I will be watching scores rather then games because I also have the right not to support sponsors of this activity.

he is an idiot,  sit or stand I don't care about him.  But I don't think a football game is the place to try and make a statement.  Your there to play a game,,,,,,  not show that your an A$$.

I think it's disrespectful. You should respect the people that fought and died for this country by respecting our National Anthem.

I think we have an issue in this country, unfortunately I don't think disrespecting the flag helps. I especially did not like the American soccer player who was representing our country not standing for the anthem. If you don't respect this country then don't represent us to the world.

Pathetic.

He is being paid 26 million to play. Not to protest.

If he wants to do that, let him do it on his own time.

I quit watching football because of this.

He has the right not to stand, but I don't think it's doing much. I mean, people are saying he's a catalyst, but I he's protesting in the wrong way. He's protesting cops...not the nation.

The niners should have traded him.  Now he's the highest paid second string quarterback in the nfl.

He is starting conversations, which was the whole point of his protest.  He was also doing the protesting for  several games before the media got a hold of it.  If you want to make a point where better.  I don't agree with his methods, but he has every right to do it.  We are talking about him which is what he wanted, so some people will actually look into what he is protesting, so he has succeeded in furthering his point.

I believe in free speech, but also believe that you are not free from people's reactions to what you do or say. So good on him for standing up for what he believes in, and good on the people who disagree. That's dialogue, and I much prefer this to sound bites. For myself, I would have trouble making the statement he's making. When is it going to be good enough for him to show patriotism again? He almost seems to say that the disenfranchised don't have a stake in our patriotic ideals, and I don't believe that. I think those who want to fight for democracy are lucky to be American. And I also see that there's some hypocrisy in taking millions to play football, but saying that inequity bothers you. Sorry, but having athletic skills does nothing to better anyone else but yourself. Put your money where your mouth is.
