Making budgets
« on: September 05, 2016, 10:14:34 am »
I always make a budget at least once a month, sometimes more. Do you? I try to work toward financial goals if I can within the budget but sometimes my paychecks aren't enough. How about you?

I think it's easier to make a "budget" when you have a fixed income cause then you know exactly how much money you will have every single month.

I make a budget for each month prior to the month. I like to know what bills are due, when and how much. Include living expenses and then from what's left make principle balance payments on my debt in order to pay it down. So aside from my notepads I use Excel to keep track of where the money coming in is going and how effective it's use is over each quarter. I also compare expenses from previous months, quarters and years to determine possible finance forecasts and if any saving method proves to be providing a benefit. Yes, I have OCD.

That is very organized. I just use a piece of paper and pen but I keep it organized and neatly written.

Yeah each of my paychecks are a little different, sometimes way different amounts. I know about how much I'm bringing in but I keep an estimated amount to keep track of so I know how much future ones will be.
