Do You Enjoy Historical Places? If so, Where?
« on: August 27, 2016, 03:17:56 am »
My family is huge on History so as a kid I had gone to the Ford’s Theater once.  I decided to recently go back.  I really wasn’t disappointed.  It’s an active theater (in fact they were rebuilding the stage when I went) that’s two stories.  I love the molding and the seats are really comfortable.  The basement of the theater is set up as Mary Surratt’s boarding home and the President’s Booth (which I think they had taken away for a time) can be seen up close.  You can’t actually go inside but you get the basic view John Wilkes Booth had when he shot Lincoln.  The gun he actually used is down below.

I like to go to historical places sometimes but it is hard to go with someone else because they may not be as interested as I am so I have to rush through.

My family like going historical places especially the museum.  I like the American Museum of Natural History.

Not a big history buff, but I live in a ripe place (VA) for historical places. My dad took my sister and I to a Civil War battlefield, which was interesting. Of course Edgar Allan Poe's house is here in Richmond, which I can't believe I still haven't gone to see!!

My husband and I have visited Colonial Williamsburg in VA, but that is too far from us to go again any time soon.
Here at home, we have a historic theatre that shows movies as well as local talent produces live theatre plays two-three times per year.  Very fun to be on stage and act/sing at this theatre.
We also have a historic home/museum.

I LOOOVE historical places! They have the best Poke-Stops! JK (I don't actually play). I'd have to say Boston since there are so many historical places to visit in the area.

I definitely enjoy historical sites! That's one reason why Virginia is my favorite state - I really enjoy visiting the Civil War Battlefield parks.

I do enjoy visiting historical places. Growing up and living in the South, there seems to be some site or place that is historic for one reason or another. Living in Texas it's kinda duty to visit the Alamo. I did with my Dad as well as Bracketville where the fake Alamo was located. Not sure it's still there though. It is where movies featuring the Alamo were made. When I was young it was one Civil War reenactment after the other. This continues today in my small town. I keep saying no matter how many times they reenact it, it does not change the outcome. I have to mention that I did get the chance as a kid to go on a field trip to the Governor's Mansion in Little Rock, AR. Bill was not there but Hillary was and I got to meet her up close. She said I was cute as she handed me a little bitty diamond from the Arkansas Diamond "mine". I've been there, it's a field. Met Bill some years later when he came to our school promoting his education reform initiative. He couldn't remember the name of our school and many from our school walked out in protest because he remembered the other schools in the auditorium.
