I'm not comfortable with sending cash in the mail.  Every so often my kids will receive cards with cash in them...more and more though they are now receiving gift cards and checks.  Things just get "lost" in the USPS.  My husband runs an ebay business and for weeks he was watching/tracking an order.  It sat in one post office day after day.  He called them and someone found the package sitting off to the side... There was no reason for it... It just got "lost".

My elderly father sends cash to the "little" kids on their birthday or holiday.  Up to $100... so far with no problems, even though it is so stupid to send it through the mail with a colored holiday card envelope.     Just a matter of time.   Just not smart.

I send Amazon credit so they can buy anything they like from Amazon. It's easy and the messages are cute.

I often receive small amounts of cash here and there from my mother. She likes to send "pizza buffet" money to me when she treats my siblings that live near her. I live out of state. I've never had a problem receiving it but if I were to send money I'd feel more confident sending money online. Today, there are so many ways to transfer electronically, even if one wanted it to be private. There are so many card accounts that cash can be added to at many public places and wired to another's account or "private account".  Confidentiality and convenience are the only remaining reasons for sending cash through the mail. I guess it's easier to shove $25 in an envelope with a stamp rather than take the extra steps to go online make the transfer and watch for it to be completed. Cash may still be King, but time is always of the essence. Cash can be earned, time cannot so it depends on how you value your time and which method saves the most time. That said time worrying about cash in mail is time wasted, in my opinion.

No I would never send cash in the mail. I would rather leave a paper trail. That way I can track it.

I wouldn't send cash in the mail. A lot of things could happen to it. People stealing mail, getting wet, lost, etc. I would prefer wiring or paypal

I'd rather directly send to someones bank account online or paypal then put any money in an envelope and take a risk

This a practice that I am obviously a little wary about. Money orders are the safest way to go, in my opinion. In the event that a money order is misplaced/lost in transit, at least you have a receipt/tracking number in which to potentially recover the money.

I wouldn't send cash through the mail - a gift card is safer.

I used to send money in the mail, but I don't anymore.  People can and will steal it.
