this year's election
« on: August 05, 2016, 08:52:43 am »
there are two candidates that people are overlooking since the bashing and banter between Clinton and Trump is taking most of public attention.
Gary Johnson is one and Jill Stein is the other. Why not take a serious look at what those candidates stand for?!
Americans would like to see a woman president.
we tried years ago with Geraldine Ferraro.
These two candidates are not in the limelight.
who says you have to be in order to be elected?
Aren't most Americans saying that one or the other [Clinton or Trump] are the lesser of two evils?
I think that Trump knows the right people to support him in his efforts.
We have allowed many sloppy things to happen in this country over the last twenty years.
We do have too much government.
There are other choices besides the two prominent ones.

When Obama and Mccain  ran in 2008 I didn't vote for either one of them. I didn't trust either one of them. I voted for Bob Bar I think his name was. I have a feeling about people. As far as Trump goes he isn't running for political stance. He wants to bring our country back to its feet. I am wholeheartedly for Trump. He has been making predictions as to what is going to happen. Just as he predicted the stuff is happening. I am all for having a woman president and Hillary isn't that answer. As for the 2 that you mentioned if they even want a chance they need to step into the limelight.

It's too late for the independent candidates. They should have started their campaigns much sooner if they wanted to make any difference at all. I'm sure they're fine people and might have made good political leaders, but I think the choice has now been narrowed down to two.

There have been many times in the past when we have to pick someone who is not necessarily the "best in show", but is still the best we have to choose from right now.

I understand wanting to pick an independent. I really do. But at this point if you pick one of them, I would venture to say that you are inadvertently voting for Hillary Clinton and that's too bad, isn't it?  :bad: My freedoms are important to me and I'd like to not lose them in my lifetime or my children's.  :peace:

I would have considered the independent candidates, but as linderlizzie pointed out, they initiated their campaigns very late into the game for people to even consider them as possible contenders. There are disadvantages on both sides (e.g., Clinton versus Trump). But Trump is too extreme and vitriolic in his views for my taste (plus the idiot does not know when to pick and choose his battles. He is too reactive to assume the presidency), so I naturally elected to be on Team Clinton.

Jill Steins' Green party campaign started the same time as the others. The difference is in the amount of media coverage she or any third party gets.
We have more than the two corporate choices.
It would behoove us to check them out.
Voting for the "lesser evil" is still voting for evil.

The independents DID start their campaign early, just as early as the rest of them. They just didn't get any support or air time. They couldn't be in the debates because they weren't Republican or Democrat, but someone in the media should have wanted fairness (I'm kidding. There is no fairness in the media) and held independent debates.

Gary Johnson has tried to beak the barrier before and didn't succeed. Voters aren't really aware of all the political parties in this country because they don't get any attention from the media. They only know 2, 3 at the most.

Gary Johnson is a little too much of an isolationist for me. I do agree with some of his ideas, but the last isolationist president "created" our entry into WWII. In fact, you could almost say Obama is an isolationist because he doesn't try to stop any country with aggressive behaviors. Case in point is China and Russia. Look what they are doing. Same with Syria. If he would have held to the "red line," I doubt the ME would be in such a mess today.

I agree that foreign policy is going to be a huge thing for the next administration, and sadly, I don't know that either candidate will really shine there. However, I do think that it will all come down to the cabinet that is chosen, not the president. I suppose that will have to do.

i just saw another independent candidate on Washington Journal this morning. He is supposed to be a veteran.  He didn't have much in the way of solutions but bashed Trump and Clinton quite a bit. That turned me off.

No matter who wins they still have to deal with Congress and it looks like that will not be a easy road again

Well I'd rather have the self-made real estate rich dictator; versus the political career rich dictator.
