I felt that way too until I had to switch phone plans about a year ago. When I did it was cheaper to get an IPhone. I never thought I would but I love it! it is easier to use than the flip phone I had. I do take a few pictures but I mainly call and text. I won't go back now. :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

I used to have a simple phone which I would just text and call people with, but I mainly kept it in case of emergencies. Now I have a smart phone and I love it! If I want to know where the nearest bank is, I ask my smartphone. If I want to call my sister in the UK for free, I Skype her on my smartphone. If I want to see when my husband's plane has touched down, and at which gate, I use my smartphone. I can scan grocery items whilst I'm in the store to see how much it is and find out if any other stores are selling it cheaper (my store price matches), I use my smartphone. If I want a question answering to check my 12 year old son's homework, I ask my smartphone and it will give me the right answer. If I want a recipe for Pancit, I ask my smartphone. Honestly, it is like walking around with an encyclopedia! Would I go back? No way!

I'm not all crazy for new things but it is fun to kill time with even though it cost a butt load.

I use a safelink phone.  I've used it for years to call and text.  It's suffice for staying in touch while I'm out and about.  I don't live a lifestyle (yet) where I need to keep track of things or people that much.  I'm sure someday when I have a smart phone I'll be saying, "how did I ever get by without this?"

I've had a smartphone for a couple of years now, and I never want to go back. I don't call or text people that often, so mostly I use it for the money-making apps. I have a ton of apps for shopping rebates, receipt scanning, and surveys.

The keys got stuck on my simple phone and the hubby suggested a smartphone.  I mostly play games which is very entertaining to me.  I play everyday and now I'm learning how to get directions, it avoids traffic and also gives me the nearest places I want to visit.  I can ask it and get the answer without even typing.  Fast and Neat but it's still not glued to my hip.  I can leave it in another room and be ok with it.  I don't sleep with it on or take it to the restroom like some people do.

You've actually hit on part of the reason why people like smartphones. You essentially said you'd use a phone for calls and texts, and a computer for computer work (eg looking up stuff on the internet, reading e-mail, etc.). So you'd need 2 devices: a phone and a computer. How about getting directions while driving? Then you'll need a GPS (or at least a road atlas). Left in the dark without a light? Now you need a flashlight. Listen to music? You'll need a radio and / or some media player (eg CD player, MP3 player, etc.). Want to watch a show? Now you need a TV. Like to read books? Get a e-reader (or just a book). My point is, if you want to do things the old-fashioned way, you'd need to carry a backpack in order to hold all of the devices and tools that you might need, whereas a smartphone has the capability of doing all of the stuff I mentioned without the need for additional tools / devices. And what's even better is that it's always with you; you might not carry around a flashlight everywhere that you go, so in an emergency when you do need it, it's very helpful to have a light without requiring the forethought of bringing one ahead of time.

I have it because I like technology. My previous phone was a used phone that belonged to my dad. It wasn't a smartphone but it served its purpose. I started looking into smartphones because I wanted one and the buttons on the old phone were falling off. I found a smartphone that I like and it's so convenient. Even though new cell phones come out every year, I won't be upgrading like that. I plan to have my phone for a couple of years before I upgrade to a new one. Even with buying a smartphone, I still comparison shop and look for the best deal I can get.

Right now i have a cell phone with a keyboard, i know they are out of date but I am just not ready for a smart phone, maybe in a couple of years when i get this one , guess i am just old fashioned and think a phone is just to call someone or  to have it handy at all times  in case i need to get to my dad quickly. It is also lightweight and fits my pocket.

Aggie, this post by southernhorizons sums it up for me. If you are on Fusion Cash, you are obviously interested in earning money using technology.  I have earned $THOUSANDS of dollars over the past six years using my smart phone - it has paid for itself multiple times over.  I have several games on my phone that I mostly ignore!  If I have a few spare minutes waiting in line at the store or in the waiting room at the doctor's office and I have a charge on my smartphone, I head straight for a few key apps and earn me some extra cash!  Like most of the legitimate sites out there, it is often just pennies at a time, but as all Fusion Cashers know those pennies add up to dollars!

This pretty much sums up what I like my smartphone. I didn't get my first smartphone until I was 24 and I don't want to go back. My dad on the other hand just has a flip phone and that suits him just fine. He's not into all the apps and stuff. I guess it just depends on what you like. Personally I find it easier to have one. For example, I was out there other day and I needed to transfer some money but I wasn't anywhere near my bank. I just did it on my phone with their app, problem solved.
