Saving the Planet Through Choices
« on: July 03, 2016, 09:13:20 am »
What do you do to save your planet?  What are your choices?
Do you recycle?
Do you watch your water usage?
Do you put your thermostat down a degree or two in winter and up a degree or so when it comes to your air conditioner?
Have you thought about solar energy or hybrid/electric cars?
Have you or are you going to insulate your home so that you don't use extra energy?
Have you thought about not buying "stuff" just for the sake of having it?
Do you sometimes walk or ride a bike rather than getting in your car?
Are you consistently using the new light bulbs?
Do you put trash in the proper receptacles rather than litter your planet?
Do you talk to your children/grandchildren about the importance of their choices going forward for  the planet?
So many choices, but perhaps not as much time as we would like to believe.  Please make good choices!!!

I must follow this up by supporting those that recycle and do their utmost to care for OUR home.

The humor and logic was meant for a scripture i will put up......

Rev. 11:17, 18: “We thank you, Jehovah God, the Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and begun ruling as king. But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time . . . to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”

Point being mankind will NEVER cure the planet on his own from being polluted.Divine intervention is the only answer.

Thank you

I recycle, use the latest energy saving light bulbs, wash clothes when I have a full load and only use the dishwasher when it's full.  ;) ;) ;) ;)

I do many of the stuff on that list, but not everything. For one, living in the State of 10,000 Lakes means that water conservation isn't as important as it is in more arid states. I do like that this list mentions changing the thermostat by a degree or two.... I've seen all too often that some people (esp. in older generations) adjust their thermostats with the intention of saving energy actually send more energy doing so. The reason (I was informed the last time I had my central heating/air unit serviced) is that today's AC and furnaces are built much more efficiently and smartly that manually adjusting the thermostat will upset the balance that the unit has achieved and require more energy to be expended to bring the system back into balance. For example, some people will turn off the AC at night and open their windows to the cooler night air. Although doing this will indeed cool the air in the house at night, it may also introduce more moisture into the air. Since the AC unit dries out the air in addition to cooling it, the next day when the AC is turned back on, it may actually have to work harder now in an effort to remove that moisture -- the moisture that will absorb the heat during the day more easily. The list is probably correct in that a couple degree change at the change of the seasons will lead to better energy conservation; just don't get too carried away such that it actually starts working against that conservation you hope for.

I recycle aluminum but primarily because it brings in a few extra dollars. I use the same water container every day and have for two years-I do this instead of adding another empty plastic water bottle to the bazillion that already litter our earth. I drive my bike to work one day a week, scooter to work twice a week (eighty five miles to the gallon), and fifty year old jeep to work three times a week (it won't be filling a junk yard as long as I am alive). I make something out of all the leftovers and rarely throw any food away. I carve all the chicken off of the bone that I can. I re use plastic bags at least five times until I finally retire them with dog poop. I turn off lights no matter where I am and try to go as long as I can without turning the heat or air conditioning on.

I recycle aluminum also and it brings in a couple of more dollars.  Use candles in the evening after dinner instead of turning on the lights.  Also our village has a rain barrel project.  It hooks up to the gutters of the house and collects the rainwater.  I use the rainwater in the summer to water our flowers and garden.  This also keeps our water bill down.  Take short showers also and only do laundry once a week and try to hang clothes outside when the weather permits.

the maintenance department in my building  uses LED light bulbs.
the maintenance employee, who is a friend of mine, told me that LED bulbs save energy and are easier on the electric bill.
I don't like those CFL light bulbs at all.

You can't save the planet.  This world isn't going to last forever and there is nothing you can do and nothing can stop what God has in store.

Eccl 1:4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

Nothing wrong with the planet.....its the satanic manmade system that has caused havoc and pollution and God will end that soon and Gods kingdom will govern this planet forever!

We recycle as much as we can, and turn lights off when and where they are not in use. Only wash laundry when I have a full load and as seldom as possible.

I recycle as much as I can and I try to combine all my arrins in to one trip to save on gas. I save water that I don't use to water the plants.
