I check mine once in a while,  but as long as i stay on my med.s it is ok, i can always feel if it is out of whack. Before i had my Afib. it was always about the same. But when i went into hyperthyroidism and it caused the afib things sure went  haywire.  And then found out i had graves disease on top of it, it was then a triple  problem. But again as long as i stay on my medicine i am fine.

I always had low blood pressure until a couple years ago. When I go to the doc's, what's the first thing they do? Take your BP. Of course, it's going to be high(er)!!!! Especially if you have a problem walking.

MY BP was always 90/70 until 2 years ago. Yesterday, at the doc's, it was 163/80. But I'm not doing anything about it and neither is he because they took it immediately. I from the car walked into the office (about 250-300 feet), gave my name, they took me right in, weighed me and took my BP, so of course it was high!

The last time I was there, I told them to try again after 10 minutes and it was normal. :)

I should check mine more regularly, but I don't.  We have a machine at home, I just never remember to get it out.  I've been on BP meds for about 11 or 12 years and I take them twice daily, only miss a dose maybe once a month when I forget or something else keeps me from it.  So the meds generally keep it in the good range.  It is almost always good when I go to the doctor.

No I don't check mine at home - they have a hard time checking at the doctor as it is because of the size of my arms.  I am on enough medicines for heart and blood pressure that I hope it is ok.

Check your blood pressure on a regular basis because it will affect your overall health. Follow a sensitive diet, exercise every day...even walking helps, sleep enough hours everyday, avoid extreme temperatures and stressful situations because all of these factors will help you enjoy better health.

We have one at home for my husband.  He has high blood pressure and I can't stress enough how important it is to monitor your BP.  Several years ago my husband starting have chest/back pain.  We thought it was a heart attack and called EMS.  To make a long story short, it wasn't a heart attack but due to a very persistent and knowledgeable ER doctor who insisted he send my husband for a cat scan we discovered he had a dissected aorta. The same thing that killed John Ritter.   He wound up in intensive care for 8 days.  The cardio vascular surgeon decided it was too dangerous to try and do surgery and said we would monitor his blood pressure and he had to keep it down.   We monitor his BP regularly and have made changes to lifestyle and diet.   We have been told by several doctors who are friends how lucky we were.  Had that emergency room sent him home believing it was a muscle spasm they said he would have died.   I am forever grateful to that young intern in the emergency room that night.  Of  course he has check ups with his cardio doc and regular doctor on a regular basis.   Keep your blood pressure monitored folks.  It does matter.
