Who do you blame more, the zoo or the parent?

I would try to not place blame because I could not say how I would react or want someone to react on my behalf if I was in that position.  The safety of my child would be first and single thought. I know that it is very hard to keep control of your child every second that you are with them because things can happen in an instant.  I am sorry that a life had to be taken to save another but I try not to place blame in a situation like this.

People have collectively lost their minds in this country. 138K people have signed a petition for the parents to be charged. Really? Fault ultimately falls to the zoo for having an enclosure that a 3 year old could manage his way in.

I don't understand why they had to murder the gorilla, they could have stunned him instead killing him! I blame the zoo & the parents! I also think that that family should never be allowed in a zoo ever again, in the prevention of the residents of the zoo (the Animals) of being killed because parents' neglect to watch their brats while in the zoo!

Tranquilizers don't take effect immediately. Would have agitated the gorilla and put the boy's life in even greater danger.

Both parties are to blame...a similar incident happen  several years ago in Chicago, except the gorilla actually attempted to cuddle and protect the child,  then returned to zoo keeper when ask for him/her.

I think it's the mother's fault because she obviously wasn't paying attention to her child. The only injuries were from the fall and nothing from the gorilla. The gorilla was actually treating it as it was its on child and protecting him once all the chaos started.

Without seeing the enclosure and what the kid did, where the parents were, I just cant say one way or another who is as fault. I do think it is a tragedy that an animal had to be killed under these circumstances.

The parent.  It's your responsibility to keep an eye on your kids, period.  The other thing is, I don't believe these animals need to be locked up in zoos for us stupid humans to see.  You want to see Gorillas, go on a safari and leave these animals in their natural habitats.  Getting tired of stupid people doing stupid things that get these animals killed.

The gorilla dragged the boy to another part of the exhibit. That's not treating the boy as a its child, its treating the boy as prey.

The parent for not watching the child and the zoo for not having a second enclosure around the animal.

Have you ever seen how animals treat their children? They most often do just pick them up and move them around. Of course it looks worse with the size difference

The parents are to blame.  You are not suppose to climb on the cages.  It is not fair the gorilla had to die.  Too many animals are dying because of the stupidity of people.

I blame the parent. She should have been watching her child. This never should have happened and is very sad.

Both are at fault. The parent for not watching the child closer because he kept telling his mom he was going in the water.  The zoo for not having an enclosure high and secure  enough.  Now they looking into making a more secure facility after this unfortunate incident has happened.
