I went to a new eye doctor a year ago.  A few days ago I get a text from this doctor's office reminding me of an appointment with them in 2 weeks.  I called them and told them I DID NOT make an appointment with them.  She said "oh it has been a year and we just automatically make you an appointment and let you know when it is".  I informed her I would not be there, I did not make the appointment, and if they had made one they had better cancel it because I was not coming".

Then the next day I received an email reminding me of my appointment (the one again I did not make).  I replied to the email and told them "I did not make an appointment and would not be at this appointment I did not make".  They said they did not accept cancellations via email.  I replied and said "I did not accept appointments made for me that "I" did not make".

So a couple days ago, AGAIN, I received a card in the mail reminding me of the appointment I DID NOT MAKE and have told them TWICE to cancel.

Just curious if any one else has had this to happen.  I think it is utterly ridiculous.  They must be desperate for customers. lol  After all this I would NEVER go back there.  I already was not happy with the services I received but this is crazy!   ::) :o >:(

My dentist is the opposite they rarely send me a card.  I tell them I will call them to make an appointment because my schedule changes every moth and I don't know when I can come it but I would still like to get a card to remind me when my six month appointment is coming up.  They send a card last time but for a couple of years they didn't send one.  I wonder if I will get a card when my next appointment is due.

It's a customer service angle.  There are a few Dr's offices here in Illinois that do this.  Dentists in particular.  I started receiving reminders for my 3 kids.  Which as a Mom I appreciated the reminders.  And if the appointment times didn't work I just called as you did.  The rest of the reminders are all just digitally programed and arrive as per whomever input.  Your constant reminders from them are nothing more than crossing as they can't stop what's already been put into action at this point.

Yeah, that is pretty crazy and I can't say I've ever had that problem, LOL.  You better make sure that appointment is cancelled or you'll wind up getting a BILL for a "no show!"

That does seem a little excessive, but could be a crossing error...I got reminders about scheduling my appointment from my eye dr., but I have held off for the time being...my dentist sends me texts and mailings too which I appreciate....as long as you don't get charged, don't take it too personally

LOL! I loved your reply to their remark about not accepting cancellations via email.

They are a bit pushy if you ask me, Id too would not go back.

I just recently had may eye doctor send me an appointment out of no where too and they said the same thing, that it had been a year since my last appointment. I had something planned so I called and told them I would make an appointment when I was ready and there was no problem. I don't know what happened with your office.

I've not had this happen to me before, but that's not right for them to not listen to you the first time!

My husband had an eye appointment about a year ago, as a result he needed to wear eye glasses for the first time. Then just a couple of weeks ago, we received a reminder, not for an actual appointment, but to make an annual appointment. We decided not to make the appointment as our insurance will only pay for checkups every two years. So they will have to wait until next year. That's how it goes when you are the customers -  you get to call the shots! Or that's how it should be anyway!

wow...never happened to me.  Most of the time I just make a future appointment after I'm done or call. The doctor's office doesnt automatically schedule it.

yes very irritating. i always tell them as i am paying that i will have to make an appt later with them as i have no idea what my schedule will look like then. have had no more problems like that since.

This was not a reminder.  This was an appointment.  I got a notice YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON THIS DATE AT THIS TIME.  I can ignore an appointment reminder card in the mail.

I thought of that.  But they cannot bill me for a "no show" when I did not make the appointment.  If that happens I will probably file a report with the BBB.  And if they try to charge the credit card I used last year I will file a police report.  I don't have that card any more anyway. :D

They do have a new multi-million dollar building to pay for. lol
