Hi,
I hope everyone is great.  My mom and brother are traveling to New York to visit my sister, brother in law, niece and nephews.  Have you been to New York?  Please share your experience with me.

I was born and raised in New York (Brooklyn to be exact) and although I don't live there now it really is a wonderful place to see and visit.  Anyone and everyone should go there at least once in their life - take in the museums, Statute of Liberty, view the sight where the World Trade Twin Towers used to be, see a play on Broadway and even take in a show at Radio City Music Hall and don't forget to take a ride on the Ferry and the Subway.  I guarantee it will be a trip you will never forget!!!

Even though I've lived for years in NY state, I've never really been to the city. Many years ago we drove through part of it, but didn't stop to see anything. The closest I've gotten was a layover at  the JFK airport, but of course I was inside the whole time. NYC doesn't interest me much, because I don't like cities in general. The only thing I'd be interested in doing there is meeting Jim Caviezel while he's filming Person of Interest. (If they aren't done yet.)

Sadly filming has ended. 

I LOVE New York.  One of my favourite places to visit!  Very easy to get around especially by subway.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.  It's a great place for tourists to see.  There's so much to do and see, you'd probably never cover it all in just a week or two.  Lower Manhattan (where the Twin Towers stood) has really changed a lot over the years, but it's a great place to start your sight seeing tour of New York.  There's the South Street Seaport, the Statue of Liberty, The Stock Exchange, and of course The 9-11 Memorial which would probably rip your heart out.  New York's got the best restaurants and delis.  What I miss most about home is going to Broadway and seeing all the plays.  I worked in the Wall Street area all my life.  There's plenty of hustle and bustle throughout the city and from Lower Manhattan you can work your up to Midtown and Uptown.  There's something to see no matter where you go in New York.  Well!  That just made me homesick, ha!

I have never been but I have talked to plenty of people who have.  I would go if I had a reason to go but it doesn't really sound like my thing.

As of yet I have not visited New York. I hope soon enough that I will make it there.

It's really just a wonderful place to visit. So much culture everywhere you look.

I too was born and raised in NY, but unlike the others I grew up in upstate NY in Binghamton to be exact. And I also went to grad school at UB in Buffalo. Yes, there is actually more to NY than just NYC -- even if the people living in the City don't see it that way There is so much to see and do outside of the City. The baseball HoF in Cooperstown, 1,000 islands in Rochester, Niagara Falls in Buffalo, the gorges and race track in Watkins Glen, even the Adirondack mountains in the north part of the state. In fact, the summer before I started grad. school, I took a month-long road trip around the state visiting all of the places that I remembered in my youth. And even then, it felt like too short of a trip to see all that I wanted to.

The only things that interest me about NYC are the Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Memorial.  I wish there was a way I could go to the city to see just those things then come back home afterward, kinda like a road trip, but I live much too far away for that.  I just don't like ultra big cities; NYC has more people than half the countries in Europe!  My hometown has 800,000 people and that's big enough for me.

      Only to transfer airplanes. Now I regret it. What a shame! Why I did not stay for a week?

Yes, I've been to New York quite a few times and love every time I visit (for work or to see friends). There is truly so much to see and do it's hard to suggest only a few things. I love musicals/plays so I always suggest seeing something on Broadway. There is nothing like it. Also, if you've never been there are so many great famous sites/landmarks that you can't miss. Plus, there are a lot of great museums.

One of my favorite things is visiting NYC at Christmas time. It's truly magical. The tree, the lights, the window displays, The Rockettes....I could go on and on.

Upstate New York is awesome!  Plenty of things to see and do there, too!  Used to go to the Catskills a lot when I was a kid, and the Renaissance Fair is always a blast!

I love New York!  It is my favorite big city! I am originally from Milwaukee but used to always hang out in Chicago. Now I live in Denver and it isn't quite the same. I have done four New York marathons which really gave me a good view of the city.  The food is wonderful and there are so many things to see.  People watching is extraordinary and shopping unparalleled. I love riding on the subway, visiting central park and grand central station. The bars are really fun. Wall street holds a special aura around it, especially the Trinity church. I haven't been there since the 9/11 tragedy but would love to see the site of destruction. Ellis island is majestic. There is so much history surrounding the city as well. The shows on Broadway are amazing and never seem to miss a beat.

I have been to New York at least one time. It was when I was in high school. I was on a club called Close-up it is more like a social studies/history type of deal where you as a high school get to go to DC  and New York, all the other places where history of America was born. So I have been to Ellis Island where statue of Liberty is located. I also rode the elevator to the top of the Empire state building. I even went to see a High school called George Washington. The UN building. People selling stuff out on street was crazy. Guys playing all sorts of music with buckets and lots lots of people walking on streets with Yellow cab and taxis everywhere.
