I've used both and don't really have a preference but my stove is electric and it works great. It heats up really fast and I enjoy that.

I have always preferred an electric stove as that is what I grew up with .. lived in a few places with gas and hated it.

when I was growing up, we had a gas stove.
in most apartment buildings I have lived in, electric stoves are used.
I believe that is to minimize the risk of a fire hazard.
you can burn yourself either way.
I am not sure if gas would give you a worse burn.

I have a glass top electric stove it is so easy to keep clean, but if i could have my way i would also have a small gas stove. I could do a lot of canning on the gas stove as i am afraid i might break  the glass top.  the great thing about electric is i don't smell the fumes of the gas stove. But i do have an gas hot water heater. Where we live if the electric goes out i can still have a hot shower.

I used to cook on a gas stove when I lived back east but now that I live in the southwest, it's electric all the way.  Personally, I think the electric is must faster to cook on than gas.

My home is only set up for an electric stove, but I've used a gas stove before and heats up faster.

I love a gas stove. Have electric right now and really do not like it, especially the oven.

I've always had an electric stove, but when we used to go camping as a family, we always took our gas stove with us. I liked that it was instant heat, and instant cooling down. Sometimes I struggle with my electric stove in that once something has come to a boil, I turn my heat down, but it does take two or three minutes for the hot plate to cool down. In the meantime, my sweetcorn has boiled over and I have a mess on my stove! I have somewhat acclimatized to this by pulling the saucepan half off the hot plate, but it's not as good as gas.

I have an electric stove and prefer electric as opposed to gas.  I don't feel as comfortable using a gas stove as I do using an electric stove.  Guess it all depends on what you are more familiar with.   :) :)
