Sugar and carb cravings
« on: April 09, 2016, 06:41:26 am »
What are you doing to reduce your sugar and carb cravings? I have tried different products, but looking for other ways to reduce my cravings that work better.

The best and hardest diet craving idea is STOP THINKING ABOUT IT.

It is interesting that self-discipline is the hardest way, but it is free. And you end up learning how to do that.

The process of re-training our minds is so hard, and a battle.

My lumpy smoothie I have every day helps me...my own concoction, but it is so healthy and doesn't taste all that bad.

My problem is I forget to make it. Old and senior moments. However it really helps to have a healthy substitute that fills you. Take the craving away.

Do not be tempted! Avoid these and too many calories and fat...your body will thank you later by eliminating many health problems.

I struggle with this too! I bought myself some minty gum and I'm hoping if I chew gum when I get cravings, it will help.

my biggest thing is cutting out soft drinks and switching to water.  it's difficult too as I'm addicted to caffeine.

These are tough cravings to ignore. So I actually don't ignore them at all. I give into them from time to time. And try to make sugars worth it with some nutritional value most of the time, say like with yogurt.

There is no product. it is a matter of retraining your body not have those addictions (yes sugar is addictive!). I am being a hypocrite of course, because I love sweets and eat way to many. I ate my weight in cadbury eggs 2 weeks ago!

Within the last weeks I have greatly reduced my sugar intake.  I have limited myself to no more than 25 grams of added sugar a day.  I used to be a sugar addict.  Now I don't even have cravings.  It only took a few days for the sugar cravings to go away.  When I first started reducing sugar I had headaches.  I still eat natural sugar like fruits.  If you can substitute table sugar for fruits that will help.

I read labels for everything I buy but I have been doing that for a while now anyway.  You just have to make better food choices.  Instead of drinking soda drink flavored sparkling water just pick the brands with natural flavoring because I have found some sparking water is loaded with artificial sweeteners like aspartame, sucralose and high fructose corn syrup.  Stay far away from those ingredients.  Try not to eat a lot of highly processed foods because they contain a lot of sugar and sodium.

I've been looking for recipes that I can make that have less sugar.  I saw this the other day haven't tried it yet but it looks good.

Those are two of my demons that I used to really battle with too!:BangHead:

To reduce my sugar cravings I:

 * Stop thinking about the sugary things that I want - re-direct my attention to something else.

 * Don't give in to my sugar cravings - believe it or not the more you give in the more you're going to want it. The best thing is not to open door to that temptation.

 * I drink sugar free sodas, sugar free coffee-creamer.

You'll be surprised to learn that once you begin eating less sugar, the less you're going to want it. It's weird I know.

For carbs, instead of cutting them out of my diet cold-turkey  :turkey:, I just limit my intake. When I eat pizza it's two slices per day, whereas before I would eat four in one day!

Set limits for your carbs. Some people count them, but I don't. I just limit my intake of them.

Hope this gives you some ideas as to what you can do.
