More advice that I would give you is to surround yourself with positive people who have some kind of goals, even if they are not yours.  Some communities and families are very negative and without any kind of motivation.  Don't spend all your time around those people.  Go where people are positive and doing something.  Go to libraries, schools, museums, gyms, YMCA/YWCA's, churches, political or social groups working to make change, volunteer.  Volunteering can often provide experience towards a job.  Just don't surround yourself with negativity and bad examples.  Decide what and who you want to be...then work towards it.  Yes, it will take work and time.  But most of all, just don't do nuttin'!!!!!!

thats solid advice. one hard thing is deciding what you want to be. I have spent a good deal of time volunteering in the past. But what I thought I would love to do I really dont.

So many thing to do, go back to school, start getting you papers in order, start looking for a job.

back to school? was never in college. why do you assume that I was?

I don't think they said anything about being in college... just back to school in general.  At some point in your life you did attend school, elementary, middle school, high school... home school....  go back to school means to continue on with higher education, no matter what level you left school at.    A trade school is an excellent way to get ahead.  If you are poor it is paid for with grants & government fee waivers.   Most programs are year programs, some two years.... most offer placement when you are done.    If you live close to a Community College, that would be a great place to explore for trade programs.

Also, at schools they have counseling programs with all kinds of professional people who will be more than positive to help you achieve your goals.

Saying go back to school would imply that i was there. i completed highschool or the equivalent at least. the only other school is college of some kind.

Take advice from the the former work counselor.  (First poster) As much as we hate the idea of living with our parents.  Sometimes it's the best thing for us to get our feet planted & get a head in the financial aspect of things.  One thing to keep in mind is how you see yourself living on your own.  ie: an apartment?  A home? A RV in a resort?  Group housing with friends? Seeing the vision helps attain the destination.

I got something of an idea. Firstly, i'm going to stay where I am for a couple months and save whatever money I can, then go stay with parents for a couple months, save more, get everything in order, get a job, and hopefully by the end of it all, I will at least be ok.

After a 15 year marriage that broke up I had no experience  but I went to work for a retail store at 3.75 and hour. Yes back the it was $3.75 for min. wage. 12 years later I was make $14.80 an hour, I started part time.  Worked part time also at a restaurant went to school got my  Associate, learned every thing could about the store and worked my way into  management. You just have to start someplace and don't expect a large salary at firs. After all you will be starting at the bottom.

Hi Darrissa77 and everyone else out there in Fusion Cash World:

I think that by getting a duplicate of your birth certificate , as well as, your GED that you are off to a great start!

Once you get a hold of these documents; I would suggest that you make extra copies and keep them in a safe place so that you can access them when needed!

I would also recommend that for now (at least) that you save up your money and buy yourself either a bike and or a bus pass so that you can commute more easily from point A to point B (wherever you are going),

I would also recommend that yew look over your options carefully and decide whether you would like to attend a trade school, or perhaps join the army, or even attend a local community college while  you live right now at home with your parents.  And this is a very good place to be at right now, for you.

It's good because 1.  You save on rent money and 2.  you can help your parents out by living with them!

I would also recommend that you save up your money and hire a driving instructor to teach you to drive so that you can go the DMV and get your driver's license!

But, no matter what you decide to do in life ask God to help you and he will guide you in your life if you are willing to accept Jesus into your heart and let him be your savior.

God's word tell us, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and then all of these other things shall be added onto you!"

God's word also tells us that "God is not a liar.........let God be true and eve man a liar."  (paraphrase of the bible

God can do anything , but fail!

God bless you my brother!

some of the advice was good other was just church sermon nonsense. that isn't going to help me do anything in life. and there is no way I am leaving the city i'm in. my daughter is here and I will be here for her no matter what.

you can get into full college with a ged. it is just as good in a lot of cases, not all.

I think you have the right idea when you say you want a certified copy of your birth certificate and your GED.  If you live in the USA, and I assume you do, you have some great options.

School is an opportunity to "rise above" the dead end jobs that you've referred to.  Focus on the positive aspects of your life and takes steps to learn and progress and things will fall into place.  Good luck!

Have a great day!
