Why Be Jealous Of Someone???

Why are people jealous of another? I went to a church for Easter and saw people that I haven't seen since high school. I looked nice; I had a suit on (it was old, but it didn't look old) and I have a decent job (also I work a 2nd job). But people I haven't seen in years saw me, and gave me dirty looks, because I looked good and happy. Why are some people jealous? Just because they aren't happy, they should try to make themselves happy. So sad.

I think it has to do with "misery loves company." If they are unhappy in their own lives, they want everybody else to be miserable.
I've seen something similar among women who are "patriarchy" advocates. They say they are happily married, and it's the best thing ever, but then they want to force all women to be under male domination, whether a husband, father or brother. If they were really happy in their own lives, why would it matter to them what other women do? I'm happily single, but I certainly don't condemn women who are mothers and housewives. So I think they are secretly jealous, and can't stand to see independent women who don't need to be dependent on a male. (although I do know a few that believe in male domination and property rights over women for religious reasons, not necessarily because of jealousy).

I remember being envious of Jennifer Aniston years ago.She had a hit show was making millions and was married to Brad Pitt well look what happened.Still like her not really jealous anymore.If you looked good let um be jealous .

I honestly believe that 99% of the time when someone THINKS others are jealous of them they are 100% wrong.

To the OP, did you talk to these people?  How do you know they gave you dirty looks because they were jealous of you.  They most likely didn't even give you a second thought.  I have had people accuse me of being jealous of them and all I can do is laugh.  I can assure you I am jealous of no one.  But people tend to throw the "jealous card" out there way too often.

If you took this much notice of other people at the church you attended then it sounds like you were there for the wrong reasons.  When I go to church I do not notice if other people are looking at me.  I also am curious as to how you know they were saying bad stuff about you.  Maybe they were saying how good it was to see you there.

Everyone has their own path.  You don't know what's going on in people's lives behind closed doors. Stay focused on achieving your own goals and living your life and there's no need to be envious of anyone else.

Jealous is just like racism it won't ever end because people will always have something negative to say about the next person

Some people have nothing better to do.  They're always comparing their situations to others and think they're the only ones with problems in the world.  What they fail to see is what that person they're so jealous of may be going through in their own personal life.  They really have no idea, but they never stop to think.  Life isn't "perfect," and everyone has their own problems to deal with, some more than others.  Guess that's why we should "never judge a book by it's cover."

Jealousy is a human behavior that can't be avoided. Even we are happy and contented in our life sometimes really you feel jealous with your love ones.

It seems simple to me.  They aren't happy about themselves.  That's the only reason people would be jealous, especially in that type of way.

Some people just want to cause an act.   But how do you know that they jealous of you when they give you a dirty look?  Sometime it something else and you don't know?  just a guess.

It doesn't make sense why people are jealous and covet other people for what they may have or how they look.  People should always be satisfied with what they have and not what others may have.

The world is full if enough problems so why waste time being jealous? I don't have room for jealousy in my life!

Everyone process their emotions differently, sadly some resort to jealousy and envy. regardless of that
you should never allow yourself to lose focus because of their unresolved issues.
