I am so lucky to get to see my favorite and only niece a lot.  She has always  been close with  me.  A lot of people thought she was my daughter when she was small. But being the only girl and then her having2 brothers and 4 male cousins she was really watched over growing up.  Even to this day she will talk and tell me things she would never talk to her mom about. Proud of her.

I try to spend as much time as possible with my kids while they are young. I am sure they will want to be with their friends when they are older.

Family time used to be so special but my kids have developed their own lives that are more centered on themselves. Our last vacation to California, sadly, was just that...our last.  It was too much like work.  I took off for a few days, which I rarely do, and the kids spent most of their time by themselves. They excused themselves from dinner to drive off to the beach, were hyper critical of everything said by my wife and I, and just were (all-around) not that fun to be with. I see my family for about twenty minutes each day (between jobs) and am finding that I like it better this way. It is kind of like that Dan Akroyd movie in which his family is somewhat non-existent with their day to day happenings.

My mother and I are going to Florida to visit my brother and his family for Easter weekend. I,m looking forward to it we don't see them that often. Also my niece and nephew are teenagers so I hope we can spend some time with them away from their friends. Once kids are teenagers family time is very hard to get. :rainbow: :peace:

I also like to spend as much time with my kids as possible because I know as soon as they are 18, they will be out the house.  I know because I too wanted to be out of the house when I reached this age. It has to be said though, kids come back home. Ten years after moving out, I even moved back into the house for a few weeks after I got divorced from my first husband just until I got onto my feet. Once I remarried, I visited my parents very regularly when I was able and even took a 2 week vacation with them every year, even until 3 grandsons came along. I will remember the good times for a very long time.
