That is so true!  I have many "fair weather" friends!  Only a true friend id there when you are down and out!  That is the true test of "friendship"!

I totally agree with you. I would be there for the people I care about until the ends of the earth, although I also realize that some people are not quite sure how to treat a person when the going gets tough. I mean, it's easy to be nice to someone who is a good friend, who puts a lot of care into the friendship, it is not so easy to put work in to a friendship when the other person is so needy. I have been in this situation. I recall trying to be there for a friend who was going through a terrible time but as time went on, I realized I was slipping into a deep depression and couldn't see a way to get out. I was in this very "dark" depressive state for about a year until I finally started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. So what I'm trying to say is, it's easy to frown on people who distance themselves from a troubled person, but sometimes, they have to do exactly that for their own survival. People deal with things as only they can.

This is a true statement if I ever heard one.  Not only friends though, I haven't seen my brother, sister, nephew since 2010.  Some people are only takers never ever a giver.  Sorry if you have experienced this first hand.

I was so lucky to have a lot of friends to help me along after losing my oldest boy,  his brother had already passed  years before.  I had a really hard time with both. But  2 of my truly best friends were there with me all along. One was by phone, but was always calling me. the other she was with me through thick and thin. More like a sister then my own sister who lives for herself as the world turns around her or so she thinks. So ye I was truly bless in more ways then one.
