I have gotten that call a couple times. I gave my phone company their ph number, but it originated in a foreign country, then transfered to an American ph #.

There must be a lot of folks who fall for this, because it keeps happening.

I am glad folks here are not falling for it.

I get those calls all the time, I love messing with them, sometimes I'll say "oh no..I haven't even taken the computer out the box yet" or I'll say "that's funny I don't have Windows at all" they usually say I do and then eventually hangup.

It is so disappointing to hear stories of how unethical some people are - I really don't know how they live with themselves. I get people ringing every now and again saying they can lower the interest rate on my mortgage which is interesting, because I have signed into such a low rate on my 15 year mortgage that it is hard to believe anybody can beat it. My husband takes great joy in taking some of the calls so that he can proudly brag about what interest rate he is paying. And of course the person at the other end is usually very disappointed by us wasting their time, they can't beat it. When my husband is not home, I don't pick up the phone to any number I don't recognize.

Too funny, I block all my spam numbers so when they call they go straight to voice mail......but i never give out my personal cell number doing this, I have a free google number (if you have a gmail account you can get a free number too) and all you calls will just go to your email account ;)

I have had something similar happen to me, I just hang up. I don't even answer the phone half the time anymore.

It's unfortunate that some people fall for scams like these. It seems to be the elderly who get taken. I know because my Mom almost fell for the grandson needs money scam. She had a stroke and didnt think as clearly as she used to think. Thank goodness I was around to stop her.

I've had these phone calls in the past and my hubby had answered them most of the time .. they didn't quit until they got me on the phone and it took two times of telling them if they call again they would hear from my lawyer ... problem solved.

I've gotten a few calls like that. It's funny because they don't realize Chrome has it's one defense mechanisms. I wouldn't need to upgrade my spyware or protection plans. I've received phone calls for the cell phone as well. But again, they don't realize what kind of phones we have or the computer we are using.

I get lots of calls on my cell phone from a Canadian Pharmacy. Usually I just block the calls.

LOL I have had those too and I just hang up.  We were getting calls from India with some Pharmacy medication prescription that we had order LOL they would call 3 4 times a day, until one day I told them in Spanish that I do not speak English and the next time they called my hubby picked up the phone, did not hang up just put it down and let the guy talking, after 5 minutes we could actually here the guy go Hello, Hello, Hello.

But a few years ago I had one call that was upsetting.  I have an Spanish name.  the caller called speaking spanish and told me "Hi lywb(my first name) I am calling to INFORM you that from now on your Phone company will be ...., that really pissed me off, I told him that I need to make some points clear:  1.  I am Mrs. C for YOU, do not know you from Adam, 2. I know the difference between you calling me to offered me your services and Informing me that your services are a GIVEN.  And 3.  You can stick your offer wherever you prefer to stick it because even if his prices where lower than what I had at the time I would not even considered.  And to please do not call again

But the one that really top the cake was a guy that called my house to offer some sort of loan, and I told him that we were not interested, he actually told me that he "Need it to speak with the MAN OF THE HOUSE since he is the one making the decisions"  when I told him that the decision was made and hang up, he actually called back and asked for my husband... I pick the other line up and told him to f.... himself since I was an equal partner on the decision making at my house and we were not interested even if we need it.
