Do you do your taxes?
« on: March 02, 2016, 09:56:08 am »
I do my own online.  I used to have them done, but the charges kept going up.  Last time I went it was about $220.00 fee.

I do my taxes myself but not online.  Every time I try them online I run into problems so I just do them the old way with a calculator and a pencil.

I do not do my own taxes because I have so much paperwork involved and so little knowledge about taxes...
I feel much more comfortable having out family friend do them, because she is very knowledgeable about it all, and has been doing my husband's taxes since he was 16.

I had my taxes done today.  I always pay for someone to fill them out.   Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)

I leave it to a CPA to do my taxes... Think about learning how to do my own taxes but haven't had the time since I am learning several programming languages

I have a CPA to do my taxes. I used to do my own taxes when I didnt have too much paperwork and just took standard deduction.

You are doing it on the wrong site if they are charging you that much!  You could probably have a CPA do it for $220!  Nothing else you could purchase Turbo Tax program a lot cheaper than that.  There are several sites that will file the federal free.  I paid $12.99 to file my state.  Some states even have a website to file state tax returns.  I know Ohio does because I filed my sister's taxes and it was free!
Have a wonderful day!

that sounds about the amount that h&r block was charging me.  I haven't used them for years though.  my go to is turbo tax now.  this year they let me file federal and state for free!

I prefer to do my own taxes, because it is a great way to learn about the law, is empowering, and also saves money. I started very early, assisting my father as a teenager with doing my parents taxes. In a way, it was part of our father/daughter bonding time.

I know what you mean, I one time paid almost 300, to get it by two weeks. than I found out that I could do it myself and still get it by two weeks. Never paid again.
