Yeah, I feel sorry for people who feel that work is their only option in life after "retirement". It means to me that they have not found meaning in anything other than  job. :(

What about hobbies, traveling, volunteering?

It's one thing to work because you need the money, it's another thing to work because you believe you have nothing else better to do. :-\

I think that's backwards. You are going to be working 40-50 years, so if you are just doing to for a paycheck, that sounds miserable. Find something your passionate about.

Not me, I am really looking forward to retirement.  I don't plan on sitting around the house doing nothing, but I'll choose what to do and when to do it. I have lots of plans.

I am on the "I will never retire" train. I will work at least two jobs until the day that I die in order to pay for my children's college and even then I think that my life insurance will be needed to complete payment. But I am sure that by keeping busy and keeping my mind challenged I will live a longer life. Even if I do pay off the school bills early I have weddings, house down payments, college graduation presents and grandchildren to assist with. It would be nice if I could live until all the bills were paid off because I think that, given that quota, I would be immortal! I am just happy to take care of my family and make their lives as stress free as possible. Both of my kids are great and should be able to handle life's challenges.

I retired at 55 and then got a part time job until 62 and I am now enjoying every minute of my full retirement.

I don't see how people can afford to retire. My medical bills alone will soon require me to work a second job.  ::) Assuming I dont become disabled, which is a possibility and then have to lilve off an impossible amount of money and be unable to work.

That saying about not having your health... if you dont have your health you dont have anything... SO TRUE.

I'm no where close to retirement age but I have heard people say the things you are talking about.  I get it.  They like the check coming in and in some cases it's necessary.  And I understand how boring it would be to not work.

in todays economy I understand the financial need to keep working. But at some point you hopefully realize that life is to short and about more a job and money.
for those who need to be busy that are loads of programs that need volunteers.
I volunteer at a local thrift shop which provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors. It'smore than just providing scholarships. customers can affordto buy clothes for their family, the left  over items go to homless shelers and low income children and familes. :rose: :rainbow: :peace:

I think it'll be boring if people retire, I know many of them even try to find volunteering work

I feel like I want to keep working until I die. I think working and looking forward to things are what keeps you going and living longer. Working also keeps you up to date with times.

Ive heard of people not retiring too. To sit at home all day is kinda boring, so to work part time is keeping people busy.

I'm sick of working I wish I could retire now.  I'm not one of those workaholic types.  I will definitely not be working in my 70's.  I want to retire as early as I can.

I retired after 20 years from one job and was working another job but had to go on disability. I had much rather be working.

There is no way for me to retire as I need the money but I am doing something that is very important to me and I do enjoy it most of the time.  I would wither away if I had nothing to do but sit around the house all day anyway.
