Id like to address something RE umbrellas.I see more people today use them to shade themselves from the sun then the rain.Rightfully so.Especially in warmer months the sun is deadly today.Sun screen is a must if you are gonna be out in it.

Just mankinds way of polluting the earth biting us in the butt!!

I probably have one...but I would never use it.  Rain doesn't bother me.

yes, I have one near the door. It is big with black and white stripes.

Yes, I have a few but my favorite is one that my I bought at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. It's a large umbrella with the image of Edgar Degas' The Dance Class. It always makes me smile on a rainy day.

One year I (I mean the Easter bunny) gave each of the kids and umbrella along with roller blades in there baskets.  The big kids had the umbrella you've described and my little girl received a novelty umbrella.  A good umbrella isn't cheap.  My oldest daughter left hers in the trunk of a car with a friend and she's never retrieved it.  My son however still has his (5 years later) Using umbrella's to block sunlight is so smart, simple and cheaper than slathering on sunscreen all the time!

I do have a few long and compact.  But never use them  i do get coats with hoods that can be tightened.   It eliminates the need for an umbrella.

I have two umbrellas both in the trunk of my car. One is black and has the Planet Hollywood logo on it that I got from Las Vegas, and the other is a leopard print one that my boyfriend's step-father gave me. Both are the small  travel ones, and come in handy when I get caught in a rainstorm!
