Seizure Trouble
« on: January 28, 2016, 07:05:58 am »
After not having had seizures for a while, I just had a couple 48 days apart, and it made me miserable until I started to think of the seizures as a negative reinforcement from God to convince me to request a study about epilepsy and brain games so I can find out whether or not brain games would make someone only need to wait 60 days to drive again after he or she has a seizure. The brain games turned out to be a helpful treatment for my autism and therefore let me learn to drive. Because I also have epilepsy, it seems important to find out whether or not brain games are also any good for making seizures a more minor concern.

After not having had seizures for a while, I just had a couple 48 days apart, and it's making me miserable. I haven't missed too many doses of my anti-seizure medication. What could be worse?

That doesn't sound good!  You said you "haven't missed too many doses of your anti-seizure meds."  That means, to me, that you haven't been taking the meds as you should.  Maybe those seizures came about because of the missed doses.  Try not to miss any, and I do hope you're feeling better soon!

My advice is to take your medications accordingly and follow your doctor's advice.

Bless your heart.  My mother has seizures.  Never had them until she was taken off meds for another condition.  She should have been weaned off them but was taken off cold turkey.  She has had several seizures since then.  My 2 year old nephew has seizures when his temperature spikes.  He has had four so far.  His fever will spike in a matter of minutes and then he has a seizure.  The doctors say this is normal for small children ~ which I had never heard ~ but if it consists, they recommend some testing be done.
Have a wonderful day!

A neurologist just increased my dosage of Lamictal, and I shouldn't have a good chance of forgetting to take it again. While I wait to be seizureless for 90 days, I will study from memory what I need to know about driving. I haven't forgotten anything I need to know yet, although it's been a while since I had lessons. (My) HAPPYneuron has saved me from many worries before. I can guarantee it will keep doing that as long I let it.

Sorry to hear about you having seizures after not having them for a while.  I am sure that is a miserable situation for you.  Will pray that you are relieved completely of this and won't have any more.  Medical issues are all terrible.  I have ones different from yours but they are misery causing none-the-less.  Here is hoping you will feel better fast.

Your post does not even make sense.  Your having seizures is not a punishment from God.  I do not know what you mean by "brain games" but it is a known fact that some of the computer games we play can cause seizures.

You idiot! A negative reinforcement is not a punishment. A reinforcement is supposed to persuade someone to do something or continue doing something right. A punishment is meant to make someone not do something considered wrong. If I forgot to take anti-seizure medication too frequently and that wound up killing me, that would be a punishment.

I did call The Epilepsy Foundation about the idea. I found out it wasn't a good idea because no exercise works for literally everyone. However, I will go to meetings with that foundation every now and then to discuss my experiences with seizures and brain games.

God bless you for sharing your pain with others. Sometimes it can be a light for someone else to see.  :star:

Keep on praying, love. Remember that FCers will be here to listen and encourage.  :highfive:

Brain games are educational cerebral exercise games. You should sign up for a free trial with (My) HAPPYneuron, Lumosity, or Rosetta Stone Fit Brains.

Hello there,
Seizures are a serious neurological disorder.  They are not a punishment from God.  Please do get medical attention.
