What do think about pet clothes?
« on: January 14, 2016, 10:37:54 am »
I feel good about dressing your pet only if it needs it. Sometimes dressing your pet, and snap, it just looks mean. I see the dogs that has the sweater or back covers are cute and they look happy to have it on. Do you have a pet that you dress-up? I have never seen the shoes on any pet.  My cat likes me to swaddle blanket in the cold, I give her a cold packed pads when hot; she keeps the pads on her back too, I wish my cat would wear shoes. Have a gr8 day  :present:

An animal has no choice. If its a sweater to keep it warm, rain slicker to keep it dry then thats fine.

But these people who put frilly dresses, and baby clothes on their pet are just stupidly ridiculous

I have 5 dogs, from 10 pounds to 80 pounds.  They all gave coats, sweaters for winter, but that it.  My 10 pound is a girl, but no frilly dresses or anything like that.

Yes, it is protective gear. It also can keep them warm or cold.

If it's useless clothing just for the sake of dressing a pet up like a doll... no. I think that's a little uncaring. But if it's booties to protect a doggy's paws from the cold, of course. Same with sweaters. We put a Halloween shirt on our second youngest kitty, but for mere minutes because we could see he wasn't enjoying himself. It looked cute, but it's mean to force it!  :cat:

Lately I am more and more into the thinking of it does not concern you then butt out.  I personally do not have a problem with pets wearing clothes.  I put tees on my kittens when I first brought them home.  They were only about a month old.  I was afraid they might be cold.  They didn't care for the shirts and took them off. lol.  My cousin has a dog that loves wearing sweaters in the winter and he gets mad if you take them off of him.

We're going to have to get a sweater for our littlest dog. He loves to go outside but he doesn't have a lot of fur and with it snowing he does nothing but shiver. Today we had a cold wind going on and he couldn't wait to get inside.

I think they are so cute dressed up, but sometimes it is hard to get them in the costumes and equally hard to keep them in the costumes without them trying to take them off.

As long as the dog is comfortable I'm ok with it. I use booties on my dogs in the rain and snow to help protect their paws. Also, my one pup is allergic to grass so he has booties to wear when playing outside or going on hikes (which he loves both activities). They also have a halloween costume.   :dog:
