Is there a plumber in the house?

We have black water coming up through the drain of the tub. Would anyone know what causes that?

Upon doing an online search, it seems like it's clog. It can be in your own drains/pipes or possibly as far away as the septic tank/sewer. You could probably try some Drain-o or something, but on something like that, it's best to call a professional and get it taken care of.

it sounds like your sewer system is backing up in your house. get a pro and tell them. i am sure that your outside sewer line needs to be snakes. i had it done a few times. call around for quotes.

I think it is a leakage and you can search the internet for a plumber in your area.

It must be a clogged on the pipes since it has been cold. But at the same time if you use some liquid plummer and it doesn't work, call the professionals. At the same time see if you have a Mormon neighbor. They are so good at helping and you don't have to pay them. Nice people. Like the ones I have here!!

t is always better for me to call the plumber if I can't get it unclogged. Hubby is not one that is for sure and he sometimes makes it worse. So it is a pro right away. I have only had to call them once since we have lived here. It was a big gob of long black hair in the kitchen drain. Sure was not mine as I do not wash my hair in the kitchen sink and I have very short gray hair. It was from the previous renters before we bought the house. I do not know how much hubby spent on items to clean the clog. None worked so I called the plumbers while hubby was at work . Took them a couple of hours but got it and no mess.

You can go to the hardware store and buy a device that fits on the end of a garden hose. When you shove it down the drain and turn on the water, a bulb swells up and seals off the drain forcing the water down against the clog and blowing it through. I have done this several times over the years and it worked every time. I did a search on Home Depot for 'drain unclogger' and it looks like a hose fitting with a black tube attached.

Could be a clog or some kind of backup, I would call a plumber!

Sounds like a sewer back up or a clogged drain not sure if trying something like Draino would work or if you need to call a plumber, good luck.

Your sewer line, or the line you connect to is clogged.  I would start with vinegar and baking soda, followed by hot water.  There are natural enzyme drain openers that are non-toxic you could also try.  Then I'd try plunging.  If that doesn't do it there are drain snakes you can get at the hardware store that are reasonably priced.  Good luck.

As long as you are prepared to spend $100 or more to solve a $10 problem.
