The price is so much better on used cars.  Look for one with low mileage.

I would never buy a used car because the seller is not going to be truthful about all that is wrong with it.

Only buy used cars if you love the model or just need a spare vehicle to use.

I almost always buy new also. You never know why someone turned in a car when they traded it in. We got my daughter a used car when she went off to college, it was a year old and they really talked ME(my hubby wasnt there)to buy this car that was a year newer(year old instead of 2) and better model than the one we were looking at and test drove. I was a fool. It is a good car, she still has it, but we did find out it had been wrecked.

There are some good used cars, especially if the car is only one or two years old. Our car that we bought this year is six years old, but the mileage was great and the car was kept up very well. New cars depreciate as soon as you take them off the lot, so I'd rather get a good used car. Our next car will be no more than three years old.

We usually buy a used car. You just lose some much on a new car the minute you drive it off the lot. I bought a new car one year and drove it 2000 miles and was coming home when the timing belt broke inside the motor. It was a Honda and the belt was in a sideways motor. Had to have that sucker towed almost 150 miles one way as there was not a Honda dealer any closer. And of course it was at night when it happened so had to stay in a small town until morning before they would tow me home. The dealership had a big bill too pay. Took them 3 months to fix it because they did not want to stand good for their product. Finally had to call home office before it was fixed. I have not had too much trouble with used.

We always buy used cars because we can't afford a new one and because my husband works on cars for a hobby, so he knows how to keep them in good running condition.

I've had 2 new cars in my life...one was a lemon from the start but the warranty never covered anything. The other one was a sporty Javelin but with kids, it had to be traded for a big, old Pontiac station wagon a couple  years later.

Now we buy nothing but used cars and we've never had many problems with them. We pay cash for them, too, so no payments. We used to have an "in" at dealer car auctions and bought a few cars from there, but now buy from local dealers that have local owner trades.

We usually buy new cars but then we keep them for 12 years. My most recent cars have gone 286k, 279K, and 246k miles before we traded them in. As you would expect we did not get much for the trade in.

New car if you can afford it because it has less problems.
