Finally broke down and won a bid on a laptop

I got a refurbished Dell N5050. It came yesterday. Looks brand new. It has a 750 GB hard drive and 6 RAM. Only problem was that it came without an Operating System. So I bought Windows 7 with SP1 and free upgrade to Windows 10.

Can't wait to try it out. This desktop is now making funny whirring noises like the hard drive is going to go.    The desktop was good to me, as was the older desktop that only needs a power supply, but is really ancient.

I just hope it hangs on until I get the laptop set up.

The "whirring" noises could be DUST inside your Tower.  Try removing the tower and vacuum it out (especially around the fans, etc.) OR use a vacuum cleaner that has reverse and blow the dust out.

I have been looking at the refurbs but  I am not sure I want to go that way or just bide the bullet for a new one. I hope it goes well for you. Maybe I will start looking more.

eBay. I've been dealing with eBay since the '99. Now, of course, there's a lot of real businesses that sell on there. When I first signed up with them, it was all every day people selling the stuff they no longer wanted or needed (like yard sales), or people deciding to sell  antiques they acquired over the years.

I've only been ripped off once, but because I used a CC and reported the ripoff to eBay too, I got my money back quickly and the person was banned from ever selling on the site again.

Good luck with your new (refurbished) computer!  My laptop is starting to show its age so it won't be long until I'll have to take the plunge and purchase a new one.

that whirring noise happens to mine all the time, actually did from day one when I bought it, mostly on sites that have alot of animation, drives me nuts
