Lasagna, anyone?
« on: September 01, 2015, 08:33:42 am »
I made lasagna last minute the other day for a friend's birthday. I had no cottage cheese (for the filling) so I substituted Greek yogurt. What???!!!  :o

All the guys there flipped over it. :male: I wouldn't tell them it had yogurt in it until they tried it first, you know.

The birthday guy texted me later and said, "I'll pay for the ingredients if you make me another one." Ha, ha.  ;)

You never know till you try.

Just goes to show you don't ever know.  I couldn't imagine using the yogurt but I am sure glad it worked out for you.  Sounds like is was very successful - I don't know what I would have done.  Apparently you are a good cook with an excellent imagination.

I love my cheese but it does seem like Greek yogurt goes with everything.

I love lasagna and I've always made it with cottage cheese but yogurt sounds interesting and maybe next time I make lasagna I will try the yogurt to see which is better.  Thanks for the idea.

Interesting idea. I usually use ricotta cheese. Wasn't the filling  not as thick ?

I thought the same thing  ??? while I was making it dbsaus1, but it turned out great. Once you mix the Greek yogurt (which is naturally thicker) with the eggs, it was fine.

Of course, I also used the usual parmesan cheese and mozarella cheese in the layering. But I can't believe how much everyone enjoyed it. That was quite a pleasant surprise for me.

Try it. See what you think. Give us your review.  or  :bad:
