We had enough school supplies, so we did not spend a lot on back to school shopping.

You have to use your own discretion, because people will try to spend your money, like they know how much you have in your pocket.

Who needs 24 glue-sticks?! When i was in grade school we'd have to bring tissue so the teachers could keep a stash for the classroom. Maybe that's why they need so many... ???
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

I vividly remember back in the 90's at first grade they require you to buy baby wipes every 2-3 months.. The teacher would put the excess supplies to the closet. Also they give out rewards from selling the supplies (when they have to much) for rewards for perfect attendance like (stuff animals, candy, cookies) and also activities like roasting pumpkin pie and raising a caterpillar/butterfly

you are wright about that about how much it cost to send kids back to school.
My doughtier in law is a teacher and u would be surprised how much it cost her to get read for school. amd that come out of her pocket not the school.

so my grandkids whom i`m raising go back to school this wednesday ,not sure how i feel about this school supply list 24 glue sticks ,three pack sharpened pencils she going into kindergarden not college.WOW!!!!!!
It is amazing how much they use at that age. I guess they have their projects. Seems like a lot of pencils. Maybe they expect her to break some of them. You will  have a refrigerator full of her work. BMaston12

I feel like people overdo the school supply shopping, especially at an early age. It's also because the teachers tell you what they want you to have, but it's often excessive and unnecessary.

It gets easier as they get older.

You have to use your own discretion, because people will try to spend your money, like they know how much you have in your pocket.

How can somebody else spend YOUR money?  No, they don't know how much you have in your pocket.  It is YOUR choice what YOU put in the buggy.  People say that to cashiers all the time "oh you knew how much I had and tried to take all of it didn't you".  You have NO idea how old that gets.  And no, it's not funny.  Not at all.
