i think that children should get an allowance each week for weekly chores and good behavior however it shouldnt be large amounts of money and some chores shouldn't get paid.  things like cleaning your room should just be a given and because of this shouldnt be paid.

They got an allowance, but only if they did certain jobs (keeping their own room clean, helping to set the table and clean up after dinner).  They could earn more if they decided to do some bigger jobs around the house.  But all of my kids were very involved in sports  earning...4 college scholarships...2 became professional athletes.  So as long as grades were kept up and they didn't miss practices etc we felt that that was part of their jobs for allowances and extra spending money.

YES! Most definitely! My household is a little different. My son who is 6 has Autism, but he has a daily chore (sometimes multiple chores) daily to do! We have a reward ticket system going on. I made a chore chart for him to do according to his abilities and his age. I also have pictures that show negative behavior with additional chores he has to do if he performs a negative behavior, since we are working on his behavior issues. When he does a good behavior as in performing one of his daily chores he gets a sticker. If he gets a sticker for everyday of the week, he gets a reward ticket at the end of the week. Some examples are like go to the park, go to the ice cream store. I home school him and I haven't taught him about money yet, although he knows you need money to buy things...lol. Maybe when he is older, I will include some monetary reward, but for now my system works!
PS> Love your picture and you sound like a great mom!

Maybe to motivate them to do something they have to do, but always put off.  Not for every little thing though.
